Monday or tuesday i am going to put my 96 F-250 with a 460 on the dyno and get a base line run i will post it.
1. new radiator, clean my K&N and install under drive pulleys, go back to dyno
2. headers, new cat converter, new flowmaster, complete tune up, dyno
3. BBK 61mm throttle body go back to dyno
4. mass air conversion and real cold air kit that i will custom build, back to dyno
I plan to have all this done in the next month or so as long as the budget doesn't run out i will keep every one informed with dyno sheets. i cant wait to get the results and uncap this 460
I couldn't wait so i went and put my truck on th dyno it did a little better than i thought it would. My truck has a K&N air filter, timing set at 12 degrees, a 50 series flowmaster other than that its all stock.
On the dyno
1st pull 216HP @ 3604RPM torque 338ft pounds @ 3170RPM
2nd pull 218HP @ 3602RPM torque 337ft pounds @ 3172RPM
now i have a good base line to start from @ 3400rpm hp went flat up to the rev limiter @ 3800rpm lots of room for improvement
nice nice want to do that with my truck some day but should probably put some stock size tires on instead of my 40's lol but keeps us in the loop curious to see what it makes
Definitely keep us updated! I've already installed headers, but I've been curious about how much the bigger throttle body and mass air conversion would improve things.
I've been wanting to convert to mass-air for years, but I don't drive the truck enough to make it worth while. If your conversion goes well, maybe I'll reconsider.
I hope I didn't make you have second thoughts about the mass-air conversion by mentioning those other companies. I just knew they were out there from previous research. The FAST system looks nice, but I think it is more for racing because it is "tunable"...and it is expensive. I don't know anything about the other two. I think you are on the right track with IST. It seems like they give you a complete kit for a decent price, so if you like the people you've talked to, they would probably be your best bet. I am really interested to hear if your mileage increases...assuming you can keep your foot out of it long enough to find out!
I did look at the other people that gmk035 mentioned thanks for the help i didn't know they where out there. I have talked to them more at mass-air and i am sold on it and the tranny computer is programable by PC or labtob. I have ordered my under drive pulleys but they will not be here until next week so now i am going to be a week behind. I am going to order my throttle body tomorrow and get that out of the way.
im real curious about the throttle body im pretty sure i remember hearing something from one person that it didnt help and caused headaches but another said that it was good
