Replacing the throttle body seems like it would only improve intake flow, so I would be surprised if it would cause a problem. On the other hand, it might not improve things until the mass air conversion allows it to be fully utilized. Please note that I am only guessing here (and it wouldn't be the first time today that I was wrong) as I haven't tried either of these...but if they work for 4wheeling79, I will be trying them! capn kirk, your truck has an excellent stance! Would you mind if I pm'd you with a couple questions about your lift kit/tire combo? I just don't want to hijack this thread.

today i put the under drive pulley's on my truck. That turned out to be an ordil not the pulley part i changed out the lower radiator hoses witch inturn had me pulling every thing off the front and changing the water pump. Just for one little hose. i cant tell a difference but i know it is there. I will try and get back to the dyno some time this week.

Which kit did you use? Was it just an undersize crank pulley or were other pulleys included? Did you have to change the belt size? By the way, what do they give you when you go to the dyno? Is it just a printout of the numbers, or do they give you the graphs too? Is it possible to post them?

i haven't had a chance to get to the dyno yet i am hopeing i can get out of work tomorrow and go. I put my stock air horns back in my intake tubes i am going to make 2 pulls with them and 2 pulls with out them to see the true efects of them. I got my 61mm throttle body in yesterday and next week i am going to order headers.

I have always wondered about those "horns". I vaguely remember something like them from a thermodynamics class. They were a type of venturi that looked exactly like those horns. Their purpose (I think) was to increase the velocity of the gas, and at the same time reduce the temperature. I think they are used in turbines. I still have mine...in a drawer, where I put them after I cut them off as described by the instructions that came with my Banks Powerpack. I have always wondered if they made a difference. Speaking of which, what headers are you getting? As I said, I got mine from Banks-they were expensive, but they are pretty nice (not pretty, like "show quality" pretty, just nice strong stainless headers). The header flange is 5/8" stainless, and I've never had a leak-and I do not use a gasket. Good luck at the dyno! Maybe you could post some pics of your truck being tested?

ok i made back to the dyno today. Please disregard what posted about HP & TQ from the first time i went to the dyno Ronnie at All Star Muffler cleared up for me reading the dyno sheets.

First time at dyno 210hp and 326tq Base run

Today at dyno first pull Under drive pulleys and air horns back in every thing else is still the same 12 degrees timing K&N air filter 39PSI fuel pressure.

219hp @ 3588 RPM AFR 15.7 very lean
363tq @ 2635 RPM

I added 2PSI of fuel pressure tried it again gained 1hp still lean we did this until i got up to 45psi. we then put a hole in the exhaust behind the manifold and welded on a bung and read AFR there instead at the tail pipe end. AFR read 13.7 closer to the motor. I added 1PSI of fuel pressure made another pull. gained 1hp AFR was reading 13.0-13.4 added 1PSI fuel for a total of 47PSI made this pull

223hp @ 3547 RPM AFR 12.8-13.1
368tq @ 2591 RPM

After this pull i then pulled the factory air horns out Ronnie thought i was crazy for doing so figured it would go lean

230hp @ 3544 RPM AFR 12.9-13.1 wierd did not go lean w/more air
379tq @ 2801 RPM

so to break it down the pulleys where worth 13hp & 42tq after corrected AFR
the factory air horns are definetly worth HP 7hp and 11tq i backed it up with 2 runs w/the only change was 379tq on first pull 380tq on next run so it made 380 foot pounds but i didn't get the print out of it to go off of.

What i found out that was very suprising was the fuel pressure and i regret now not watching the fuel pressure gauge to see what it was doing

That is excellent information! I can't wait to see what the throttle body and mass-air do. By the way, where did you get your under-drive pulley set? What brand?

When are you getting the throttle body? When you do the install, could you post a pic of the throttle bodies side by side? I never figured out how to post pics in the thread, but I've linked to pics in Photobucket, which works just as well. I'm just curious how much bigger the new one will be.

i have all ready gotten the throttle body i will take pics of them and post for you to see when i make the change. i wish now that i had done that with the pulleys. here is my truck on the dyno we made about 20 pulls on it that day and only costed me 80 dollars. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/k...yno3-26-09.jpg
