The only reason I can even get the time I do in the office right now is because i have ZERO work to do. Several client contracts are looming ahead, but the accountant number-crunchers and lawyers in corporate are even slowing things down further if a single word is not "agreeable" in the contract.
Perfect example... I have a good project that will keep me and several others 100% billable for 4-6 weeks, and the client's PO was denied by our corporate group because the name of our division listed on the PO ended with "Inc." instead of "Company". That little drizzle of "applied wisdom" has kept me and several others at ZERO billability for two weeks now!! Talk about being stoooopid!
Sorry... my rant quota for the day has now been exhausted!
They need to make that monkey go to commission-based pay. If he/she only gets paid when a contract they approved is billing, they'll be less likely to squabble over these things, and I bet they'd be a little more proactive about getting things moved along.
I refuse to open a FB account. Yuck! Next thing you know all of you will be "tweeting" each other. LOL
No tweeting for me. Whats the point of letting everyone know what youre doing every minute of the day?! Seems like you would be wasting a lot of the day just updating that...

My life isn't interesting enough to report what I am doing all day long
my buddy just left. he helped me get my armoire in the house, but with the carpeting & size of the door opening, it's about 1/2" too tall to get pushed in, and it cannot be rotated/angled in any way other than stood upright because of other walls
sooo...
can I just knock out the soffit of the wooden door frame or do I need to take out the entire frame?

1. Can the legs be removed? If so, there's your ticket. If not... the structure is tediously put together as in the image below...
The real problem is that your door header framing is sitting on top of the jack (or trim) stud which is what your interior door frame is attached to. You are better off removing the entire trim and interior door frame to get that 1/2 inch, but then you're going to have to do the same when you move it back out of the room, too. Can you possibly get it in through a window as an alternative?
If you simply cut through the header framing through the top, you'll lose all structurual strength over the door and it will eventually sag and crack the cheetrock after you've completed the work.
Yeah... removing and reinstalling the entire door frame is your best bet if you can't remove the legs or get it in through a window.
Here's a decent link to replacing a prehung door, which I've only included because it shows how the door frame it attached to the wall framing that is illustrated below. http://www.wikihow.com/Replace-a-Pre-Hung-Door
EDIT:
Thinking a little more about your question.... the way the door frame is put together, to try to just remove the top piece will result in virtually destroying it altogether. It will be easier to remove the entire frame as a single piece, just like it was when it was installed to begin with.
Also, I'm not sure of how much framing knowledge you have or don;t have, so if these details are too baby-ish for you, forgive me... I just wanted to make sure to include enough info to cover the issue completely.

If you want to save and reuse the door frame, you'll have to completely remove it. If you knock the head out of it, it will likely be destroyed.
