Oh yeah... MUCH later, she tells me that horses color can get bleached out by the sun, and a black horse can look brown..... OK. Why not bring that little fact to light earlier??

So, was I an *** or would you have checked the color too? Or would you have just kept to yourself about it completely? Just curious...
Hi Brendan...

Sometimes, even if you KNOW you are right, its easier to just accept defeat just for ease. Besides, sometimes things aren't always as they seem. A "black" Percheron might actually have a brownish hue...but since the breed is referred to as black...well then its black.

You gotta pick your battles I guess. Were I in that situation, and they told me the brown horse was black, I would have dropped the subject. Even if you were right, you'll never convince them (obviously) and the cause is lost. Not to mention all of the problems that little confrontation caused.

Yeah, I agree with you totally. I mean really, did they expect every person to come up & just accept that this horse is "genetically" black but looks brown? Why not just say, "they bleach out & look brown from the sun" - when she told me that I was like "Really??" and she literally said "yeah, you didn't know that?".... ummmm NO. How the heck would I know that??

Any single guys out there: if you want to see the girls you SHOULDN'T date, just hang with me.... crikey...

Maybe it's a guy/girl thing. Most women have said what you say. Most men have responded in a manner like I did. Maybe us boys are mosre confrontational, but I'll say that for me, if you tell me something is black and my eyes tell me it's brown, every time I will question it.

Oh well... no wonder I'm single.

I mention that my ex had a black Percheron, and the BF says "she's black too".... but I'm looking at the horse and it's brown. Seriously. So I'm like "she looks brown to me. she's really black?" and all 3 girls are like "yes, she's black".... so I pull out my keys, because my remote for the truck alarm i KNOW is black. Her position: Why did I have to be "confrontational" and not just accept it?

So if her drivers license says that she has brown hair but she has actually dyed it blonde is her hair still brown?

lol, I get what you're sayin...and even I have found myself in such situations. Like I said sometimes I just accept defeat because its easier. I hate arguing in circles and so...I just let it be.

What bothers me about the situation is that the whole thing caused issues later. So, she knows the horse looks brown, why did she have such an issue with the fact that you were questioning what color the horse was? I mean have a laugh over it, and then forget about it. I dont see why it has to be such a big deal to her.

This is my ex to a T. She was right even when she was wrong no matter what it was. It is "a character defect" according to the marriage counselor that we went to.

Almost sounds like you ran into my daughter. I listen to some of the things she tells her boyfriend and the way she argues with him and have to wonder why he puts up with her.

Some female types just like to argue or hear themselves talk. My wife's best friend is this way. She was really annoying when she was younger. Now I just ignore her and don't let her bait me into her discussions.

I would have grabbed something black and been like hmm, horse sure looks brown to me!

I dont think theres anything wrong at calling people on stuff like that, most of the time. If its something as minor as the color of a horse, sometimes its just easier to think in your head "man she is on crack or something!"

I dont have a problem calling people on stuff like that, men or women. When a person is incorrect about something I think they should know about it, and that includes myself. I mean she asked why didnt you just accept it? Thats retarded!

Although im NEVER wrong so...

For what it is worth, while I understand Lisa's position, I would have jumped in with both feet and pointed out the error of their ways. lol

I did exactly that! The key fob for my truck's alarm is black plastic - I pulled it out, compared it to the horse, and was like "Well, it looks brown to me..."

Best part - one of them is a psychologist by trade. I am really coming to believe that many people now think it's easier to avoid ANY confrontation. Sometimes it completely is not worth it... but really, why didn't one of them just say "the sun bleaches the coat & they turn brown some times..." - you know, like not assuming that I know as much about horses? Then there's the fact that my ex had 2 black horses. Summer, winter, indoors, outdoors... they were black 24/7.

Oh well... c'est la vie, no?
