Actually its true Pete. He wasn't super happy about it.
Ok Brendan. I managed to run 2 miles after work today...on a treadmill mind you. But if I keep at it all winter I might be able to run with you next summer without passing out or dying.
stay with it and keep upping the mileage. im 6'2" and weigh in at an even 280. this last may i ran my first mini marathon. 13.1 miles for a guy my size! it took me 3 hours and 22 minutes. this next year i just want to break the 3 hour mark. i dont know why i do it cause it aint that much fun atleast the last 3 miles arent that fun in fact they really suck but once you complete one (atleast for me) you have to start doing better than the last time......
I never I said I knew all about the cold hard facts of life. I have been through some very hard things in my life. That being said, I realize I'm just getting started and still have a lot to learn.
However, I do know a lot about naughty things, which is what I was making reference too.
I have three expresso machines ad need one more or a couple bigger ones
Two I picked up cheep $5 and $7 new the other a gift
you can get a small one 94 cps) at wally's that works pretty good fo about $30
That's basically what I was refering to.things seem to start looking a lot different when you reach about 35
I got started early.Think I was 40 before I was 25
If you can figger that out

Wow, that's impressive! Running for 3 hours straight, that's not anything to be ashamed of holy cow! I hate running, my body hates it, but that's why I do it. I am actually pretty healthy at the core, I have a strong heart and I have to beat myself up to get my BPM up enough to where I know I am burning calories.
A few years ago I had started running and got up to 3 miles/day and it started getting easy...that got derailed by life circumstances but I am hopeful I can get back into the routine.
I plan on keeping it up. Need to get back into shape!

I'll have to check out the espresso machine Ray. Mmmm
Now, I sorta get what you're saying in your 2nd set of comments...I realize, you probably get better at it as time goes on....
The knowledge is there, all that's needed is practice

Haha well, you're going to college. That'll be a good head start for ya.
Bill - good on ya!!! half marathon is none too shabby!! Longest race I ever did was the Annapolis 10-miler. Flat for the first 6 miles, then all these stupid killer hills for the next 2+... UGH!! Man did they make the legs burn!
Most fun was the Xterra triathlon... saw snakes on the mountain bike route, and then there was "Dante's staircase"; they were almost too tall for me to step up and over and I'm 5' 11" - brutal. Oh, and it was 92° and like 80% humidity... friggin' horrible conditions, but FUN!
I think the secret to running is not thinking about running. Don't think about your pace. Don't think about your stride. I think about maintenance on the vehicles that needs to be done. I think "If I won a $100 million lottery, what would I do with it?". Seriously... what vehicles, where I'd buy property/houses, trust funds for the nephews college funds... anything BUT running. Here's a fun fact: The faster you run, the more mechanically perfect your stride becomes. Run for a mile or so, then throw in a 30' sprint. Do it. not half-assed either, use all your ***. Your pace will slow, but at an average slightly faster than before. Do this every mile, and time yourself. Your speed will pick up faster than you expect... and then you'll start to challenge yourself...

i normally pick out a nice piece of eye candy and follow her until she pulls too far ahead of me and then i pick out another one to stay behind. that goes on until about the 9 or 10 mile mark when i have lost interest altogether and i am concentrating on not dying. sounds creepy but hey there are alot of attractive women out there so its not too bad. that and i also look forward to getting to every water hole. at those i slow to a fast walk to drink and then carry on. my jog/run is probably about the pace of your fast walk anyway......
Morning All..THis will be one of those days that I wish were over before it started..
Although, I am not sure if it is good or bad yet, it will cost more, thats for sure, but it looks like my hours have been changed. I will now be here 5:30 am until 5:00 pm, Mon-Thur. Fridays at home.. Might just start volunteering at the school for a day a week.. MY poor kid, he is going to be the one with the Geek dad hanging out..
On the opposite end of the scale was the kid I saw this morning. As I'm coming up around this hill, I see a woman load a "small"... err young boy in to the back of the car. They turn out on to the street where I'm running, and go up about 200', pull to the side, and on go the flashers. She then exits the car, gets the boy out.... and walks him across the street to the bus stop..... Yes, you guessed it, the kid looked like he was hooked up to an air compressor and filled to about 80psi. No wonder the kid's that heavy!!! Literally, it was at most, a 300' walk from their door to the school bus stop. ugh.
I was at the gym once and on the TV they had that show about the man who eats 33,000 calories a day and weighs like 1,000 lbs..it was actually a show about a series of people who are so overweight they can't even walk.
