Brent, not really brand specific and I don't want to spend a lot of money either.
I am only interested in a home defence weapon so it will be shortened to just legal length. No plans to go bird hunting at all.
I'll check out gungenie later on, thanks for the tip.

Hmm a 12g pump huh Dan? what kind are you looking at? Ever shot a Benelli? My brother bought the new Nova pump and it's amazing. About $400. Just FYI. Take a look at gungenie.com before you buy.
I have a Nova Pump and it's a great gun. I bought it with the idea of home defense first, at a very reasonable price. Bonus is that you can shoot any round out of it; target, buckshot, or rifled slug. Doesn't matter. In fact, when it's "setup" for home defense, the first round is buckshot, 2nd is a rifled slug...
I'd highly recommend it as a GREAT all around gun. That or one of the Remington 870 variants, of which there are dozens.
Honestly, I have to add this last part. If you will only ever use it for self/home defense, then consider a 20 guage or even a .410. They'll still knock someone down, but won't punch through walls as easily. The problem there is that in this day & age, you're best off killing the intruder so they can't sue you, because as sure as the sun rises, there's a lawyer that will take up the case.

I know where that is, right on.
Well for just home defense and occasional shooting watch the Big 5 sporting goods flyer for a Mossberg, probably pick up the security model for around $200.00. Thats what I would do. Good gun, it just doesnt feel as nice as a Benelli, but, one thing is for sure, it's all about how it feels to YOU, not everyone else. And yeah, gun genie is great, just input your zip, select gun, then click offers.
Good points for sure Brendan, I hope the day never comes but if it does that the sound of the gun racking is enough...That is, after my dog goes crazy barking. Or the laser on the chest...Always intimidating....

If you ever take a conceal carry course, they tell you that if you shoot at someone you better plan on killing them...or they'll come back to haunt you for the rest of your life.
I have the .357 beside the bed loaded with hollowpoints at all times. Anyone breaks into my house is lucky enough to get one put right through their forehead.

The prob I have with guns in the home is my kids. They find a way to get into anything. So my guns have to stay locked up.I was thinking about one of the picture frames you can hide a pistol in for in our bedroom. But I still think the kids would find it.So no guns right now.
My buddy that is a officer said the same thing KILLEM and don't shoot them in the back, front shots only.

Perfectly understandable Brad. I don't have to worry about kids.

Do you have any pic's on how you installed your mud flaps?
I'm needing a set for when I tow the TT and looking for some ideals.
Absolutely. Had a guy email me on this recently so I'll just copy and paste the message I sent him. If you have any additional questions just let me know.
Everything is welded on, not removable. The main support piece is welded directly to the hitch. I got the mudflaps as a gift, actually, from my brother. He picked them up at an International truck dealership.
So to install, I started by welding 2 1/2" 1/8" thick 36" long steel pieces on either side of the hitch:
Here you can see where the flaps were cut, and I used a 2" wide steel plate, drilled, and sandwiched those flaps in there with 7/16" stainless steel bolts. As you can see I tried to spray these black, but with all the rocks and stuff bouncing off of them, the paint doesn't stay on all that well.
For extra strength (because I know eventually i'll try to rip these off) used 1" support steel that runs at an angle behind the flap to keep them secure.
Originally I was going to run a steel plate along the bottom of each flap, but the rubber flaps are so flippin heavy, I didn't end up needing them.
