Colorado is pretty much the same way. They are very picky about weapons when in transport.
Here in IA, good luck getting a CC, especially where i live. Individual Sheriffs for each county give the OK for CCs, and some of them simply don't...
marylands like that from what ive heard... not about the countys.. but ive heard its practically impossible to get a CC permit even when youve met all the requirements... some of the guys ive talked to say you pretty much need to have a documented threat against you before the courts will approve your permit applications...
Last speeding ticket I got was for 65 in a 45, and for being a single person in an HOV lane, even though I was trying to turn left, so I HAD to be in the HOV lane and I was only there for maybe 100 yards. It was shortly after I got my truck and I wasn't used to how powerful it is.
I had to go to court to get the points dropped (I believe it was 6) and pay a $500 fine. I got lucky enough to find a spot outside the courthouse large enough to park my truck, and when I came out of court I had a parking ticket for $20 for taking up too much space.

yup. and the communist state of new jersey is one of them.
yeah.... one of my dealer buddys travels and does gun shows all over the US.. forget which state it was he said he was going through but hed gotten pulled over and apparently he was "warned" about the transportation of his ammunition... apparently the state regulates the type of ammuniton that can pass through/carried in the state.. was the first time hed ever heard of it and was why he was let go with just a warning... (that and having outta state license, plates and a dealers license)... but they practically told him not to be caught with them again.. just wish i could remember what state it was he said had the regulations and what type it had to be...
Yeah... but here is the fun part. Because I have a carry permit I can keep my weapon loaded in the car, and I don't have to declare it. The convo went something like this:
Cop: Is that a weapon on your seat?
Me (hands on wheel, not moving): Yes sir
Cop: Do you have a permit for that?
Me: yes sir
Cop: Is it loaded?
Me: Yes sir
Cop:First off, why do have a loaded gun within reach?
Me: Because it is my right. Why would I carry a gun that isn't loaded??
Cop: are you getting mouthy???
Me: No sir
Cop: Second... You are supposed to tell me the SECOND I get to the vehicle that you have a gun!
Me: Sir, I don't need to tell you. It's my right. And SECOND, if the first words out of my mouth are, 'I have a gun' you'd sure as shyte pull yours on me... and let me tell you, I shoot back.
Cop: I've had enough of your mouth. 2 points... with the speeding ticket...
...
And now I'm on probation
I guess its kinda dont ask, dont tell around here. Ive been pulled once they didnt ask so I didnt tell...

ive always wondered that myself....
Sworn in?! I guess its definitely different from town to town in VA. I took an ONLINE class...printed my own certificate, filled out all the paperwork, paid, and had it within a week.
As of Jan 2009 21 states don't allow "unrestricted" open carry laws. Those 21either outright say no or have some sort of stipulations to them. Wisconsin has "unrestricted under state law, but very uncommon practice". WTF?! They dont even have a provision under state law that allows individuals to carry a concealed weapon. Weird...
Thats according to the "Traveler's Guide to the Firearm Laws of the Fifty States" I had sent to me for planning out road trips! lol

That is one reason, another is if you have to legally carry large amounts of cash on you. (like if you own some ATM's and you go around filling them up) and the third reason I can remember right now. I had a cop friend tell me about it. He said its damn near impossible to get one, although another cop friend of mine said he could get my dad one without to much of a problem.. guess he knows some people or somthing.

Well, Ive had no reason to go snooping around near his "weapon" and have no reason to ask about it. What y'all do on your own time is non of our buisness...

That's nuts. The CC certifications I am familiar with..there are actual classes, and you have to pass a shooting and firearm competency test.

yeah some places have different regs in va... all the cities around me require finger printing... my city doesnt... so the regs change depending on what city you live in here....
im surprised they took an internet certificate... out here we had to go through a physical class so they could proove you knew how to use the weapons.. youd be surprised how many guys in my class showed up without one (some didnt even own one)... part of the class was fire arms training..
yeah the sworn in happened when you paid the $15 notorising fee.. applications here have to be notarised by a state certified notary... pretty much theyre just making you swear your not going out to purposely find someone to kill and that your only going to use it in self defence or defence of others in distress...

hmm didnt know about the money thing.. prolly cuz most the people id heard it from where just ordinary people wanting the right to carry... and only reason i was asking into maryland is cuz i do a bit of traveling through there and wanted to be able to carry through there legally... cuz i can carry in all the other states since the reciprocate my states license when i head back home...

The class I took online was from a certified NRA instructor. VA just passed a law in July that recognizes those internet classes as being accepted across the state. You don't have to hold or shoot a firearm to get a CC in VA...obviously! If you go to a class physically, then things might be a little different. My total license cost was 89 bucks. 39 for the class and 50 for the state/local govt.
