i would look again cuz theres way more than 7... (22 to be exact) and some states have banned it... 2nd amendment gives you the right to own.. not carry... and really you can thank the voters for instituting the laws that have regulated the open carrys outta most those states...
There are 7 (and DC) non-permissive open carry states. And 14 Permissive carry states. Meaning you have to have some sort of license or written permission to carry open as well (but theses are not fully banned states).
the second amendment reads.. .the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.... bear by definition, is to carry, or bring forth.
It's the ignorance of the liberal voters that think guns kill people...
put it this way when i looked them up 10 prohibited it all together for open carry..
Utah Lists stipulations for carrying open.. mainly they stipulated the type of weapon and how it had to be carried. one of them being it had to be double action. the other being that you couldnt have a round in the chamber..
Minnesota, Iowa, Indiana, Tennesee, connetecuit, Georgia and road island are prohibited unless you have a carry permit.. which to me doesnt make sence cuz if you have the permitt you might as well just carry concealed anyways..
Mississippi has it limited to "to legitimate, firearms-related activity" whatever they mean by that i dunno...
and i agree its is those ignorant people that vote the junk in that limits our rights...
Interesting conversation here.
I'm toying with the idea of getting a short barrel shotgun for home defence.
Son in law showed me his and it's just barely legal length: Browning 16.5" 12g pump or something.
Very nice unit, but he doesn't clean it or oil it or anything and the mechanism is kind of sticky.
Not something that I would allow to happen to my equipment.
.
Lisa I hope that everything works out for you. Changing addresses like that really effect some people in ways that cannot be foreseen.
I was born about 10 miles from where I live today, spent my whole life here, and cannot imagine how I would react to living somewhere else away from "home".
Yeah... but here is the fun part. Because I have a carry permit I can keep my weapon loaded in the car, and I don't have to declare it. The convo went something like this:
Cop: Is that a weapon on your seat?
Me (hands on wheel, not moving): Yes sir
Cop: Do you have a permit for that?
Me: yes sir
Cop: Is it loaded?
Me: Yes sir
Cop:First off, why do have a loaded gun within reach?
Me: Because it is my right. Why would I carry a gun that isn't loaded??
Cop: are you getting mouthy???
Me: No sir
Cop: Second... You are supposed to tell me the SECOND I get to the vehicle that you have a gun!
Me: Sir, I don't need to tell you. It's my right. And SECOND, if the first words out of my mouth are, 'I have a gun' you'd sure as shyte pull yours on me... and let me tell you, I shoot back.
Cop: I've had enough of your mouth. 2 points... with the speeding ticket...
...
And now I'm on probation
Must be something with them there northern states
Where I live a cop can't give points only a citation.A judge can give points but is not required to.
If you are proven guilty and the judge don't issue any points the state will issue the points that fit the violation.
With some charges you can take a class to remove the points if you don't have a CDL

I doubt even Mississippi knows what that means...

It's a shame we've come to this... with a lot of things. The sheeple going along and voting things because it's the cool thing to do... leaving their brains by the roadside...

i consider that weapon abuse there... thats like getting a vehicle and never changing the oil in its entire life... i been wanting another shotgun.. but just never have the money for it.. nor can i get any of the local shops to give me a price on them...
A friend just gave me a .243 for my daughter to shoot. I took it apart and the entire trigger assembly is rusted and full of tree bits and various other vegetation...I even had to break out the steel wool to clean it up. I can't imagine ever letting a gun go. I agree Shawn, it's like letting a vehicle go.

lol thats great there... i agree there they really should have asked more about it before signing.. and some in there didnt even bother to know what it was they just signed...

Are you sure that Georgia fits that category? That's not the way it was explained to me or the way I read it

Mn doesn't do the whole "points" thing against your license.

yeah.. i clean mine after every use... i may not do it just as i get back from the range.. but it gets done at least by the end of the week... down side to not taking care of them is if the barrels start rusting inside or out it can weaken the integrity of the barrels.. ntm can hinder the shells heads from exiting the barrels properly.. read awhile back where a sevearly rusted barrel stopped the shell head dead in the barrel causing the gasses to be expeled back as the guy firing it instead of out the front..
course i think the guy was an idiot to begin with cuz he didnt bother to inspect the gun when it back fired like that and got injured when he fired the next one... barrel exploded behind the 2nd shell head.. and the barrel still had both heads still lodged in the front part of the barrel...
