Went shooting today. Today was big bore day..shot the .50 cal muzzleloader, 7mm mag, the .444 marlin, and the .44 mag.
Had the target way down range to run a few through the 7mm..and left it there for the rest of the time. Managed to actually hit a long range target with the .44 mag.
Our target:
Makes me feel good that a few of my guns got to go out and play today. The poor 7 got cleaned and put back into the cabinet for another year.
Very nice Lisa. It's funny how similar your weapon choices are to mine! I have a Remington model 700 BDL in .300RUM, Marlin 1895M in .450 Marlin "Pig Buster" and great saddle gun for Elk, and I HAD.......a Ruger Vaqureo in .44mag. I wish they still made that gun.....Now I have to pack the ol' G21. My true love is my Mathews Switchback though, There's nothing to me like like "the mystical flight of the arrow". (Uncle Ted)
very cool Lisa.
i have not been on the range since new years eve when my nephew the marine came home for a visit and wanted to go shooting big bore. (all he is allowed to play with in the corps is a M16 chambered in .223)
we had his 20 ga. slug gun, the tomson center hawken 50 caliber front stuffer, and the ruger model 77 25-06 with simmons 4-12 scope for long gun, and the 44 mag and 45 acp out that time.
i got him and his friend mad after i out shot them with the 50 and 25-06 on the 100 yard range.
3 rounds rapid fire out of each, with a 1 inch group on the 25-06, and a 3 inch group on the 50 with open sights, all in the 3 inch bulls eye.

HAD? What happened to the Vaquero?
And, you can give a bowhunter a gun...but he'll always be a bowhunter.

he spanked me with the hand guns though.
Just tell him...experience counts for a thing or two.
It amazes me ever time I see a "natural shooter". The type of person who can just lift and fire and get it straight on every time, whether the target is moving or not. I think you are either born with it or you aren't.
I definitely was not. Did not inherit that from my old man unfortunately. I have to plan my shots.
I sold it....
Wish I had never done it. I wanted to get into Cowboy Action shooting, but sold my horse, got married, had children, moved into town..... Don't regret any of it.......except getting rid of my .44
My wife bought me a Glock though
I used to shoot my 629 (DX, w/ Millet sights) standing at 200 meters in silhouette competition.
Not that I was very good, but it sure was fun to ring those Rams off the rail.

Did you enjoy competition shooting? Randy has suggested getting me into it, not because I am all that good but because it will force me to become better. Competition is a good motivator for me.
Oh and, I just got this in an email and I thought it appropriate to share:
