tell me more about this rock that thinks its a sledgehammer. how many were produced, what plant, how much money, and where are they today? if they were so bad, why dont they make them anymore?

go to motor trend.com and look at the top speed tests. it speeks for itself. let me know what you think now........jason
well you lied on 2 accounts!! first its not a 1,000 hp car, and second, its not a production car!! LMAO!!
"If the question is really "what is the fastest production car," For those still taking Sledgehammer. I'd like to quote Reeves Callaway. He says, "of course the Sledgehammer is not a production car, but it shows in a spectacular manner our technical capabilities and proves an 880 hp sports car may be used in a day-to-day manner, similar to any other Corvette"
To our very own troll named Jason, how can you be fairly intelligent in one post and in the very next one make a TOTAL *** of yourself by calling a speciality tuner car from an aftermarket supplier a production car from the factory? Go back under your bridge.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-Apr-02 AT 01:46 AM (EST)]>LIKE I SAID, maybe they changed in 02 (your info was for a

Then all I can say is your friends with Z06's got ripped off. Either that or they are ignorant accepting 149 MPH tires on a 170 MPH car.
http://www.chevrolet.com/corvette/index_features.htm
cool, well you about sum'd it up I can say im wrong when im wrong, I WAS WRONG. i dont own a chevy, and probably never will. i was going off of what i have seen on at least 2 differant cars.
hell it could come with S-ratted tires, it wouldn effect me none.
FIRST OF ALL, CALLAWAY OR THE SLEDGEHAMMER IS NOT AN AFTERMARKET VEHICLE OR TUNER VEHICLE AFTER FACTORY RELEASE. THIS IS OR WAS AN OPTION FOR THAT YEAR IF YOU HAD THE MONEY. YOU CAN STILL DO THAT TO VETTES RIGHT NOW. EVER HEARD OF THE 427 VETTE WITH 500 HP, OR ALL THE DIFFERENT CALLAWAYS? THERES A LOT OF COMBINATIONS YOU CAN GET. IF YOU GET THESE VEHICLES FROM THE FACTORY EVEN IF ITS SENT OUT TO ANOTHER FACTORY FOR AN ENGINE SWAP OR UPGRADE OR WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL IT, ITS STILL CONSIDERED A PRODUCTION VEHICLE. IF YOU BUY A VETTE FROM THE FACTORY WITH 650 HP AND YOU ADD A K&N AIR FILTER THAT BOOSTS ITS HP TO 660, THATS CALLED MODIFIED AFTER PRODUCTION RELEASE TO A CUSTOMER OR BUYER OR TO THE PUBLIC DOMAIN. THERE HAS TO BE AT LEAST OR MORE THAN 100 CARS SOLD TO BE CALLED A PRODUCTION VEHICLE. THERE ARE OVER 100 SLEDGEHAMMERS PRODUCED. THEY ARE THE FASTEST VEHICLES EVER MADE. THIS WAS TESTED AT THE OHIO TRANSPORTATION RESEARCH CENTER AND CLOCKED OVER 250 MPH. ITS EITHER 256.7 MPH OR 257.6 MPH. NOW THE TWIN TURBO 650 LINGENFELTER CORVETTE WAS NAMED THE FASTEST VEHICLE EVER TOO LAST YEAR. I REMEMBERED THE SLEDGEHAMMER AND THOUGHT IT WAS THE FASTEST AND MOTOR TREND DID MENTION IT WHEN THIS VETTE CAME OUT BUT NEVER ACTUALLY WENT FURTHER IN DETAIL WITH IT. THEN A MONTH LATER A VIPER CAME OUT WITH TWIN TURBO 800 + HP. IT RAN 9.9 1/4 MILE TIME AND THEY SAID A TOP SPEED OF 230. THE VETTE WAS 226 MPH, BUT I NEVER DID SEE THE TOP END TEST FOR THAT VIPER AND I HAVENT SEEN IT MENTIONED ANYWHERE OR HEARD FROM ANYONE ABOUT ITS TOP END. THE 650 VETTE RAN 10'S IN THE 1/4 MILE. SO WHO REALLY KNOWS WHAT THE REAL PRODUCTION TOP END RECORD SPEED IS. SOME SAY SLEDGEHAMMER, SOME SAY 650 VETTE, SOME SAY VIPER. AND SOME IDIOTS COME UP WITH JET ENGINE VEHICLES UNDER THE CATEGORY OF FASTEST PRODUCTION CARS. THERE NOT PRODUCTION CARS. I HAVENT SEEN IT ON HERE BUT ANOTHER MESSAGE BOARD. IT WAS THE VETTE SITE. NOW THERES ANOTHER CAR WITH 1100 HP CALLED THE BUGATTI. I NEVER SAW ITS TESTS BUT THEY ALSO SAID IT THE FASTEST PRODUCTION CAR MADE, BUT HAVENT SEEN THE SPECS. THEY CLAIM 250 MPH. I DOUBT THAT. SO WHY AM I A TROLL? JUST BECAUSE IM RIGHT ABOUT SOMETHING YOUR WRONG ABOUT DOESNT MAKE ME A TROLL NOW DOES IT? JASON

254.76 IS THE EXACT TOP END SPEED. NOW THE MOTOR TREND WEB SITE I WAS ON SAID OVER 100 WERE BUILT AND SOLD TO THE PUBLIC. ON HERE IT SAYS 1 UNIT WAS BUILT IN 1988. I TYPED IN CORVETTE SLEDGEHAMMER IN THE SEARCH ENGINE AND WENT TO THE FASTEST STREET LEGAL SUPER CARS. IT IS 880 HP BUT THE OTHER WEB SITE ALSO SAID OVER 1000 HP BUT ONLY A FEW WERE MADE AND OTHER SLEDGEHAMMERS WERE BUILT BUT ITS HARD TO FIND THEM ANYWHERE. THEY WE SOLD TO THE PUBLIC SO IM TAKING THAT AS A PRODUCTION VEHICLE. I WASNT LYING ABOUT IT, I WAS TELLING YOU WHAT I READ. SO WHICH ON IS RIGHT? WHATEVER IT IS, ITS STILL THE FASTEST TO MY KNOWLEDGE. JASON
JASONALICIA- Just because you type it in caps, it doesn't make it any less of bullcrap. A production vehicle is just that. A PRODUCTION vehicle. A vehicle worked on by a company, other then the company that built it, is NOT production. It has been MODIFIED. Now if Callaway or the maker of the Sledgehammer built their cars from the ground up, not using other manufacturers cars, then they would be PRODUCTION. Got it??? Now next time, use your head before you make your next post. And don't forget to take your meds.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 26-Apr-02 AT 01:23 AM (EST)]i was looking at some mopar R/T heads at the dodge dealer the other day, and they had a viper venum 650R for sale in the show room. i was talking to the parts manager about it, and he said it still came with a warenty and all.
even tho it was for sale in a dealer, was brand new, and came with a warenty, it is NOT a production vehicle!! it is a TUNER car!! as is the rock you speek of.
the fastest production car is the McLaren F1 at 240 mph
look here for the video http://www.mclarencars.com/content/sections/mainfr/gall.htm
JTT(Jason the troll), are you really that dense???? Nobody is disputing what a Callaway or Lingenfelter(?) can do for a Vette. Or what Hennesey does for a Viper or Saleen/Roush/Kenne Brown does for a Mustang. The fact remains these are tuner/specialty vehicles not available off the GM/Ford/Chrysler assembly line.
With the exception of Saleen, who did a few 351 swaps into V6 Mustangs that were considered DOT/EPA approved production cars, the rest are all modified cars that have nothing to do with GM/Ford/Chrysler "production."
If we all admit that we can go to the local chevy dealer and drive off with a Callaway and we all say it's the fastest car in the world......will you go away???

Kota, if you get a chance ask who pays for the warranty repairs on the modified drivetrain. 2:1 it aint Chrysler!!!
Hmmm, well if those two tuners make "Production" cars, then I guess that makes Saleen & Roush part of the Mustang Production line then too huh? Anybody tell him what the Caps lock key is used for? WOnder if he's smart enough to figure that out?
It kills me to see how smart trolls think they are!
