So yesterday i was getting ready to go home the truck was perfectly warmed up and i through a little rev. at my friend to maybe 2500. Out of no where i got a SES light while revving. Borrowed Peters (duck_fan) bully dog to scan it today since the SES light decided to hang around. And its P0308. Injector Driver Circuit/#8 misfire detected! I have now cleared the code and drove home from work and the SES light has not re appeared (yet). The truck seems to be running fine. No smoking, clacking, or power loss.
Anyone who knows my saga with this truck can understand why i almost pooed myslef when i saw that it was a 308 code.
Just For info: I HAVE NOT programmed my truck since the new motor. Nor have i done ANY other mods to it.
As always your guys' insight and help is greatly appreciated!
The CA trucks will throw contribution codes that most of us won't see unless we run a contribution test. What color CPS are you running? My truck would fail the CCT and give my a P0308 if I ran the test with a gray CPS in it.
If you cleared the code and it didn't come back, I'd just keep an eye on things.
Well they probably would have put the "new and improved" cps in with the new motor... And i know people have mentioned the new one causing a injector #8 code.... But i was under the understanding that it only threw that code when it failed. My truck didn't stutter stumble or anything....

The new CPS will only throw that code when a CCT is run and the cylinder fails to pass the test in spec, EXCEPT on a CA truck. The CA truck can pick up the CCT trouble codes as well as GP codes without any tests being run.
With a gray CPS my truck would fail the CCT on #3 & #8, but never gave me any problem other that what the computer said. Mine didn't seem to idle rough until I put the black one in and noticed the idle was smoother after the change.
Interesting... Well i guess ill keep driving and sees if it screws up again. I beat on the truck fairly good last night and all was fine. I might go see my buddy at the stealership on tues. just for poops and laughs.
Is this what you two talk about when I am not looking. In an effort to not take this thread off-topic, am I to understand that our CA trucks run the CCT periodically?
And yes, I auto cross my wife's Volvo wagon. I have a Miata that is supposed to be my track car but the suspension is beat and I want to run as many events as possible to stay in the points.
