My first time I ran over a bunch of excavation site stakes, and a laser tripod, luckily without a laser on it. It was set in what I call Crab mode, where all 4 tires turn the same way at the same time. I had no clue, just jumped on and took off. Wasnt pretty. On big jobs like that where L&I is onsite they can fine you a lot of money. Like I said earlier though, my guys like me and we fixed my mistake quick. IIRC, just driving over a power cord on this site was grounds for a fine, someting like $100 per tire mark...
Ok I did get some info on how to operate the sky trak, but I didn't have to be replaced with a different driver. And if I ever got too scared one of the guys in the crew would take over for me.

I just turned to a Matlock rerun before I suffer a heart attack.
Watching Matlock prevents heart attacks?
...That explains a lot.

I second this. My dad and I tore apart his old chain saw one time (30 year old machine). It would barely run. Turns out the exhaust was clogged. Ran great after we cleaned it up.

I agree with this also. Take me, for example. I was 4 years into a career and decided I don't want to do that anymore and I am changing course!
Lots of time to decide what you want to do with your life.

I don't know why I do this Brent, but you post something and I have a story involving the same thing that you just yank out of my old memory banks. I was putting a second story addition on a Honda dealership in Marietta, Ga. and had rented a Lull with a 45 or 46 foot boom. We were working on a Sunday. I lifted a 30 or 35 foot long column that was dangling from a fairly short cable, but of course to manipulate it into position to place on the foundation bolts I was boomed nearly all the way out and up. Driving the machine very carefully I got the left side tires up on about a 4 inch high curb. I will be damned if that was not enough to just flip this damn machine over on it's right side. What an effin mess, I dove off the drivers side as it went over. There were brand new and used cars everywhere. Luckily I did not hit anything, but boy oh boy, it sure destroyed that boom. My insurance company nor the rental company was very happy. But at least it happened on a Sunday, and I had a boom truck on the job too, so I was able to get the Lull back up on all 4 wheels, but the boom would not return all the way to its parked position or I may have gotten away without having to report it to anyone.
If my long assed stories are bothering anyone, just let me know and I will knock it off.
I am not bothered by your stories Mark. Actually I sorta enjoy em. Keep posting em up if you want.
Thank you for the sort of a compliment Jake. All it takes is something to jar a memory and it comes pouring out like it was yesterday. I gotta bunch of X rated ones that will certainly convince everyone that I deserve to be divorced. But in my defense you would have to all know what I put up with for marrying for beauty. All 3 children know all the stories and all side with me. They all agree Mom is "strange", their words, not mine. The youngest child will be 32 on Veterans day.
