I was about your age when I started runing heave equipment, they are sure a lot nicer today
working with building trade is the easiest and normally pays a good bit more than dirt scale
if I was to start today my choice would be the hydracrane although there is a good demand for friction and tower crane operators

Even that's not easy. I have Dr.'s appointments in the morning and will probably get 70 or 80 posts behind and I gotta bunch of indentured servitude stuff to do around this house or I'll be looking for another place to park.

ain't that the truth!!!
when i started running the heavy equipment, we were lucky if we even had a cab on them, let alone heat in the cab.

knuckle-buster graders with one wheel juice brakes,
single circuit air brakes on the wheel loaders,
12V71TT Detroit diesel engines in the scraper pans,
control sticks out of the floor, or 4 stick/pedal control excavators,
cable dozer's,
gas pony-motor starters on the diesel engines,
Johnson bar clutches,

quad box trans in the trucks.

ahh, the good old days............ you can keep them!!

the new computer controlled, climate controlled equipment with premium sound systems of today almost makes it a pleasure to go to work in the morning.

I really don't know exactly what I want to do. But I do want a job thats out side or working with my hands. I wouldnt mind being a mechanic for offroad equipment, I might be able to stand working with people(management) but other than that I am not quite sure what I want to do.

When I was your age I had every intention of becoming a Gynecologist. Then somehow I ended up in Viet Nam, then married, I really never was single and my bride frowned on my being a doctor idea because there were too many girls in college so there went that plan.

I probably could have posted this picture without upsetting anyone. But rather than take any risks I decided to just post the link and tell you to view at your own risk. What I want to know is. How many of you believe this story, or have heard it before?

Yea, I asked a different doctor about that and they said I waited too late to even do that. All my cartilage is gone in ankle. I wanted to graduate from college and being on crutches and outta commission wasnt an option back then! Now I look back and think Im an idiot. But its done!

Well aren't you the clever little thing? The word had to come from somewhere. Are there equivalent words in other languages such as French, German, etc. I thought it was a good story and a good explanation for such a strange word. I guess you'd have to find some X rated novels from the 16th or 17th centuries to learn anything and there were probably no such items back then.

My first time I ran over a bunch of excavation site stakes, and a laser tripod, luckily without a laser on it. It was set in what I call Crab mode, where all 4 tires turn the same way at the same time. I had no clue, just jumped on and took off. Wasnt pretty. On big jobs like that where L&I is onsite they can fine you a lot of money. Like I said earlier though, my guys like me and we fixed my mistake quick. IIRC, just driving over a power cord on this site was grounds for a fine, someting like $100 per tire mark...

You have lots of time Jake, and from what little I know of you a boss would be lucky to have you. Keep your chin up, look people in the eye, and always tell the truth. You will do fine. You dont have to stay anywhere forever, so feel free to try a few things first. my .02.
