I get called a redneck for driving a diesel truck, and likeing whiskey... I wouldnt say I am a redneck, hick, or hillbilly, But I do have "redneck tendencies" I guess you would say, but that all comes from being around my dads side.
Im the same way. I sure dont look like a stereotypical redneck though, one of my nicknames in real life is preppy.
But I like beer, and whiskey, and fighting, and trucks, and shooting.
Thanks Guys. He'd fit in with all of you just fine thats for sure.

Now, see, here is where Randy and I differ. I spend money on my truck, granted. I see nothing wrong with that. BUT..Randy has about 10 projects going on right now. He's ADD on his projects. My line of thinking - pick one thing, and spend money on it.
In no way do I try to control him though. It's his money, his projects, his dream. If he wants to go buy a motor for $300 and throw it in the garage, its fine with me, I just give him a hard time about it is all, usually laughing the entire time.
IMHO...a buick block would make a great anchor in case of a tornado.
Brent - I'm not a real big fan of the tubular running boards. Those things are dangerous in the wintertime. The truck looks like it sits low enough you may not need them at all...I dunno though. I prefer the steel hoop style and I only have them on the front, so whenever I get passengers in the back they have to hang and swing from the seatbelts and try and launch themselves in the back. I don't have kids, either....so really, its whatever your famil wants/needs.

Maybe he could mount a barstool to it! Or a couch. Saw one of those this summer.
I saw my first snowflake of the 2008/2009 snowboarding season today... drifted lazily down past me... and I stood there in awe.... now I only need 589 GAZILLION more!!!
Why are they dangerous in the winter? I've been scratching my head for a few minutes now and can't come up with it.
My dad had those on his old Dodge. They had the flat black rubber steps on them, but in my experience, there were a few times I stepped on the rounded aluminumn part of it on accident and completely lost my footing. In the winter that aluminumn gets covered with snow/slush and gets a nice coating of slick ice on it.
Oh, I see. I slipped off the black pad on mine the other day -- I treated 'em with that STP stuff (like Armor All, but I can't remember the name of it). They look great, but are slick as hell...

I did that once... and just once - now i've got King Ranch boards on mine, but I need to take them off and re-do the black - then hook up the lights and be tight!!!

There are a bunch kid around here that for some reason think its cool to be a redneck so they wear boots, get daddy to buy them a truck, buy anything camo they possibly can and they all seem to START fishing ( i literally mean start as in never done before till high school). They have never done any real manual labor, or even held a gun. They all live seem to live in nice sized houses in a pretty expensive suburb of DC. The funnest part about it is they all seem to hate me because "Im not really a redneck" WTF? I never said I was and I dont go around with a big lip in everywhere to try to seem like Im from the backwoods of somewhere...Ive done more farm work, fished, and shot a gun more than anyone of these little spoiled kids.
I get called a redneck/hick/farmboy AND I DON'T GIVE A SHAT! I drive a diesel, I like beer, I wear steel toe boots every day and I wear JD branded clothing. My cousin always bitches about those wanna be "RedNecks". I find it's fuuny that I live next to the BIGGEST Hick town in my area and everybody tries to dress like a "gangsta" , jock, emo, stoner, wiger, or with all these expensive name brand clothes. And me and a few others dress like rednecks, hicks, or farmboys and we don't give a **** and we work our asses off.
I had those flat style running boards on my old '99 PSD. They are slippery. I knock my shins a few times jumping in that truck. I have the OEM tube style on this truck and as long as you hit the flat part, they seem to be better.
