Maybe you should place an ad under craigslist under the "barter/trade" section.

You never know. You might get a response.

I sold my '66 because the salt from MD winters was eating her up BAD... I'll build my Cobra first, and maybe by then someone will have engineered an All-Wheel Drive V8 Mustang... yeah, tube chassis with updated geometry, fat disc brakes at all 4 corners... and a 6speed... or maybe a system like our ESOF so that I could fishtail on demand... I'll be in my 40's and losing my license like I did in my 20's!!! HAHAHAHAHA

I towed it back from California to Denver about 4 years ago. I used to drive it as a teenager. Blew the clutch and it has been sitting in storage since '89. Absolutely a rust-free CA car. It's in my garage now and I have had people stop dead in the street, get out and ask me how much I was willing to sell it for. I just laugh and say move on. BTW, my dad is the original owner. Still have the original paperwork from the sale in '67.

I still have the 68 roadrunner I bought in high school in a garage....it a damn fun car to drive, but the brakes are much worse than you remember. I tell people when they ask " a minivan will outbrake a 1960's 427 corveete or a shelby cobra"

You ain't kidding!! All that horsepower and little skinny tires and even worse drum brakes on all 4 corners. I bought a 64 Ford dual quad 427, it took me less than a month to total it, just because I could not stop it while going about 120 mph and a garbage truck pulled out in front of me. From then on I switched to Pontiac, for no other reason than the fact that I could make em haul ***, and they were such great sleeper cars.

I swapped out the front drums to discs on my mustang and it helped some. When I start rebuilding it, Wildwood discs on all four corners.

Old Poncho's were great fun too because you could pull out the 327 small-block and drop in a 455... the outer block dimensions were the same... drove a 678 Firebird with a 455 and the guy did NOT reinforce the frame... you could almost SEE the body twisting when you hammered it... hehehehe

i'll give credit where it's due - the new-ish Civic's, Celicas, etc. can be made VERY quick, but there's nothing like the brute torque of an old V8 champin' at the bit... and then you've just GOTTA hammer it...

Plus, when you do a burnout in a muscle car, the correct set of tires smoke...

Try to imagine todays technology with the cubic inches and high compression of the pre Ralph Nader days. Nine second quarter mile cars right off the showroom floor. That jerk single handedly put an end to the muscle car era. As far as I know he's never even had a drivers license in his life. That could be another Urban Legend, don't know.

PS: Pontiac never produced a 327 ci engine, it was 326, but you're correct about all of them having the same outside dimensions 326, 389, 400, 421, 428, and the 455. The 455 was the only over square one of the bunch but easily produced the most torque.

You're more than welcome Brendan. I lived cars back then. I am trying to remember the ci of Poncho motors before the 389/421's that were introduced in 1960 I think. Seems to me their cubic inches were 347, but the block design was completely different. Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end. Check out this link. If I had a dollar for everyone of these that I blew the doors off of with my sleeper GTO I would have a little money in the bank maybe. Another good money sucker for me was any owner of a 396/454 Chevelle.

I would think the proper response to this question would be "You don't have enough money." You never know, some fool with more money than sense might prove you wrong.
