Hey guys, i finally got to tow my 78 F-250 snowfighter bogger project up to the shop i work at, and im about to tear into it within the next week....here is what i have now:
78 F-250 4x4 snowfighter chassis (original singlecab rusted beyond repair)
swapping on a 76 supercab body, with a small flatbed with rollcage and storage...
351m for now (swapping in my 460 bored .030 over later down the road)
C6 NP 205 60's front and rear
swapping out front inverted leaf w/ the rear 3/4 ton springs, putting 1/2 ton springs in the rear
now, i swapped the 205 in place of the original 203 (can we say doubler?) and now my driveshafts are the wrong length...so out back, im going to move my axle forward enough to make the rear shaft work, then try to find a front shaft or have mine redone...does that sound reasonable??
plus there is alot of framework to be done including making new crossmembers, and fabbing rear cab mounts...
so what i need from you all is any pics you have of 73-79 supercab bodies on singlecab long bed frames....that way i can get some ideas on what i do and dont want to do...thanks guys.....
Are you shooting for a specific wheel base moving the rear axle forward. When you fit the supercab on the other frame the rear axle will appear closer to the cab as it is. I'm sure there is room to move the axle forward still but lengthening the rear drive line seems easier and it should be less than 150 or so. I haven't had one lengthen or shortened for awhile thou.
Keep us post on your cab swap, I thought it would be a cool mod with a bobbed up bed
yeah i posted over there last week, but ran out of time that day to post here too, so i cheated and copied/pasted it over here to get some more opinions.....
i thought about just redoing the driveshaft, but moving the axle forward is FREE, and i like FREE,plus im probably gonna have to have the front driveshaft redone due to the swapped in NP205....BUT, i have no idea how it will look, so im going to mock it up to see if i like it before i bob the rear frame...as for the wheelbase, i will just have to see, cause im using rear 3/4ton springs up front that will move my front axle forward and i think im already long enough...but like i said, im going to mock it up when i get it on the lift....i dont think ill have any clearance issues with the back of the cab, and if i do i might cut out a small notch on the rear corners....here is a pic of how much room there is now with the lil 33's....
i also thought about using the outter sheetmetal from a bed to have a bobbed bed "look" over the flatbed/rollcage, we will just have to see...keep the opinions coming....does anyone know of someone that ahas built a rig like this, i need to see some pics!!!
yeah this is the only truck with my setup that ive been able to find...who is it?? and are there any more pics of it, like maybe some of it sitting level...the only pics ive seen of it are twisty shots, which are bad azz dont get me wrong, but i would like to see how it looks sitting normally...thanks for finding em for me....
ill take some as soon as i make them..lol....right now the cab is just sitting on the frame, i had to put it on prematurly because the city guy was hasseling me about the bare frame in the driveway and the cab on the ground....he thought i was starting a junkyard or something stupid like that, and told me i had 5 days to straighten it up or he would tow it off.....apparently he wasnt a car guy.....
That blue crew belongs to SLOW hes from canada. Hes a member here and on pirate. The supercab im not sure who owns it but hes on pirate. IIRC it doenst look anywhere near that good now
