Hey guys, been awhile since I've been on here. I've been wrenching at the shop all day and in ASE training all evening. That's leaves me no time to get on a real computer much. What I need are links to good articles on properly welding the spiders in my Dana 60s. I have a pretty decent "idea" on how to do it, but I would like to read about some tested methods. I'd search myself, but I'm on here with my iPhone and searching is quite frustrating. Thanks guys.
Heres a Sterling carrier but you get the idea. Gear to gear and gear to housing. Good idea to weld the cross shaft into the carrier and if youve got some spare spider gears weld those in there also.
EDIT:
for anyone needing to know a Ford 9" open carrier gears (not the side gears, the other ones that the shaft slide through.) fit perfectly between Sterling side gears for extra support.
What are those gears called? Nightshift and a few beer have my brain kinda fubar right now
