chrome valve covers only add 25 hp at the flywheel, hardly noticable without a 50 hp chrome oilpan to compliment it.....i actually just picked up some stockers from pullapart, i also got a stock aircleaner too with the big flexible tube...all for 13 bucks...im going to run the flex tube somewhere away from the mud and put a k&n cone filter on the end of it...i may even delete my AC box and run the air cleaner into the cab...

thats EFF'n hilarious, slick 50 is a joke!! but ironically, i was lookin' at bottle of Duralube yesterday, i used it back in the 90's in an old dart with a slant six, and i kid you not that thing ran better, the valves quieted down, and it actually gained mpg's.....thing about slick 50 is they claim its teflon, but teflon has to be heated over 700 degrees to stick to metal...duralube is an oil treatment, not a "metal treatment" like slick 50 claims to be...

I might as well, thats where everything else ive torn off this truck is located at the moment....lmao.... i need to clean that friggin thing out already!! I edited my post as to not confuse anyone else..see my reason for editing??..lol...
anyways, here is the latest progress....got my bro over with his welder last night and we made the first of a few crossmembers...its 1/8" 4" square tubing, welded to 3/8" plate, then bolted in between the rear spring shackles...im going to make at least 2 more like it for in the middle of the truck..all but two of the original crossmembers were dust....i left the second crossmember from the back original, and it serves as the rear mount for the newly added fuel tank...a piece of fairly thick angle iron was donated from my bro's trailor that he hauls his 500HP samurai with, dont worry, the trailor isnt pretty so the missing piece of metal looks normal.....i also finally spun the oil pump with a drill and made sure the topend is oiling, i had to change the valve covers anyways, its pushing 70 PSI easily with a drill....even at slow speeds it was at 50 psi and all rocker arms got oily, great news considering this motor sat not running for the last five years...another trip to pullapart for a dizzy hold down clamp, then to the parts store for fuel line, and ill fire this beast up...here are some more pics...
carl told me to cut the fuel door off of a 78 and mount it to the tank just for the hell of it....
bobbed this much off the rear....it was like cutting loose a giant rusty hangnail!!!!
heeper?? this aint my ol' ladies truck, she is the jeeper...lol...when we gonna make those other crossmembers carl?? only a week and a half till crum's mudbog!!! and i dont even have brakes yet, but i may not need brakes anyways, with those worn out BFGs the mud will may me soon enough..lmao
