the thought of chopping and bobbing a bed down has been in the back of my head since day one, if i do, ill be dovetailing it, and also bringing the front fenders in to match up front...but for now a small flatbed with roll bars is what's in the plans....it will be just over the gas tank, with a integrated tool compartment near the cab....yeah, i said integrated, dont know if i spelled it right, but i used the big word anyways...
if you bring in the front fenders wont look much like a 76 any more how much grill will you cut out and hood? be a whole lot easier to dove the front of a heep
I think if you cut from the inside of headlights and out from the grill and then pull the fenders in, that 76 grill insert would look sick. Just do the same to the hood and weld the sides back on, put some lights behind the insert and have something like this. ... If I end up putting the fenders back on my truck after it's lifted, I will do something like this, possibly tube fenders.
I don't really know about that look. It seems a bit odd. I liked Hav24wheels dove tailed front end.. but for the most part, I don't think they look very good.
ok let me see if i can make this make any sense....ive thought about bringing in the front enough that i would only use one of the two grill inserts on my 76 grill...i would retain the headlights and headlight surrounds, but make it with one center section..i would probably just use rivots to hold it all together since it wont be about being pretty....i also though about relocating the radiator out back, and putting a winch inside the grill under the hood, with the cable running out the middle of the center section, kind of like a tongue hanging out...as for the hood, i think i would leave it uncut, and put tubing under it bent to match the corners of the hood and have it attached to the hood itself, and have flat plate filling the openings that would be there...the dovetail would be the skins off of a dentside bed, i thought about a matching winch running out the middle of a fake tailgate...but that is all far off in the works, right now its all about making it run a straight line in the mudbog, or the river, or wherever i can get it to....lol....i just want to hear it run, six years is long enough...
thats where we used to go in but everyone tells me its a free ride to jail now for going in there. been told you can get in on the lex side. park on private prop for $5 a person if you haul a trailer. some people gripe but at least you dont have to worry bout someone stealing smnthn.
