as you can tell, the EFF'in thing started!!! timing sounds late...floats probably sticking....i can still taste gas from priming the fuel line the old fashioned way ( i feel so cheap and used).........im still in shock, after 6 years of nothing, it fired right up after i got the dizzy in right.....w/ 60psi of oil.....radiator will be ready tomorrow, the used one i got for it (freebie) was out of a 68 F-100 with a three on the tree, so it didnt have any tranny cooler lines...i still had the busted one out of the 78, so i took them both to a commercial radiator shop and they are fitting the bottom tank with the tranny cooler, onto the bottom of the good radiator for 70 bones...i could have got a 4 core at salvage for that price, but this one will be tested and sealed with high temp epoxy weld as needed...almost ready for the bog this saturday!!!

or you couldve bought a $30 tranny cooler from your local auto parts store and been done with it by now.
ouch, i was waiting for that......at least i didnt enjoy suckin hose like some others around here....
anyways..........the truck actually moved under its own power for the first time in over half a decade....the stinkin tranny lines are dust though, they would leak in one spot, we cut and clamped hose to it, then it would leak somewhere else, again and again....minor setback, gonna run rubber hose the full length of both lines....then down the road go find some decent salvage hardlines...carl is welding me up a longer tranny shift linkage, he also done some brake line flairing for me so i can stop the thing.....as for the tranny cooler, i already have the original cooler and i wanted to have both the external and internal because that motor never overheated with that same setup, i i figured at least get it back to original and call it good..i set the timing to 10* BTDC like the OEM valve cover states, and it hesitates too much...i havent checked yet but i bet the timing chain is worn....so i bumped the timing up far enough that it runs smooth, and can still start easily...for a motor that spent the last 5 years idle, and 10 years idle before i got it, this thing still idles good, revs nice, and aside from cobweb burnoff still doesnt smoke....so, now i just gotta do the tranny lines, reinstall the front driveshaft, rebleed the brakes, bypass the leaking heater core, hopefully find a cheapo temp guage, and load the sucker on the trailor tomorrow night to hit the bog saturday....
