Not long after metric came out in Canada a friend and I were travelling to the States. When he heard the temperature was plus 15 in North Dakota he could hardly wait to get there.
He didn`t realize the announcer meant plus 15 Fahrenheit, pretty much the same as we had at home.

Kms is about 60% of miles, 62.5% to be exact. 100 kms is 62.5 miles.

What are the speed limits like in Germany? I`ve heard of the Autobahn without a speed limit.

in towns yes there are. but the autobhan is a whole different ball game.
the reason why there is no speed limit is so they can land planes on it.

Regarding the metric system, I used both when it comes to measuring different things too. I use the foot and inches on a tape measure alot. I dont really use miles much anymore as kilometers works for me. I couldnt tell ya how to measure liquids in pints or quarts, or how to tell the temperature in F.

The metric system really does make sense though, everything is divisible into everything else, and everything is in increments of ten, its really simple once ya get the hang of it!

I do actually hate having metric tools too. The worst has gotta be allan wrenches though.
