Not long after metric came out in Canada a friend and I were travelling to the States. When he heard the temperature was plus 15 in North Dakota he could hardly wait to get there.
He didn`t realize the announcer meant plus 15 Fahrenheit, pretty much the same as we had at home.
i know morris,
seem like your going faster than you are used to. i spent some time in germany when i was in the army. all their signs and speedometers are in kms.
they landed plane on the autobhan to refuel and reload ammo. during the war.
i have driven on the autobhan and have had a porche pass me at almost 200 kms.
talk about a blurr.
Regarding the metric system, I used both when it comes to measuring different things too. I use the foot and inches on a tape measure alot. I dont really use miles much anymore as kilometers works for me. I couldnt tell ya how to measure liquids in pints or quarts, or how to tell the temperature in F.
The metric system really does make sense though, everything is divisible into everything else, and everything is in increments of ten, its really simple once ya get the hang of it!
