Jack that is awesome! I for one would be interested in hearing about some of the trucks you look at, prices and specs and whatnot, if ya feel like posting a thread about it when ya get into looking!
Hell ya might make er up to good ol saskatchewan one of these day!
Holy c&*@ it's snowing like crazy here. Forcast says 1-3 cm but theres already a cm on the deck in the last hour. It's supposed to snow till tomorrow! But it's -10!
i don't know if i would taking him up on his offer. i think we are going to be company drivers at first. first off we have to get a company that will take us first.
No snow here and it`s warmed up abit to -11 which is also the low for tonite, a hi of -8 tomorrow. The windchill does still have some bite to it.
A good idea get the taste before committing yourselves Jack since it may not be to your liking. I didn`t care for being continuously on the road after only 7 months of it.
the laws are different here than up where you are. they only let you stay out for so long then you have to have a vacation. when i went with my dad we were only out for a month at a time. i was going thru divorce at the time and my dad wanted to get away for a while. get out and see the sites so to speak.
i just want a job and be safe with accident free runs is all i want. or a dedicated run!
and be home at least once a week.
jack, if you haven't got kids at home, and you and yer missus is planning team driving, give 'er sluice. ride as long as you can!!!! i'm looking at that as a retirement plan...
prep,
i know but hey it makes money thats what i'm telling myself! and your right its easy but the laws have changed alittle. i haven't had a CDL for almost 20years. but i have been working on the big trucks/trailers without one. and the u.s. doesn't require you to hold a CDL to be a D.O.T. inspector! all they require is for you to be employed for more than 6 months! at a company! i've had my same dot number for 15 years.
sherm,
i do have a 22year old son that will be here to take of the pets/cats, buster, icy, stinky
SWIFT has a spouse train program. when i get my CLASS A CDL permit i can go with her. as a team! but i have to prove i can drive. which i can!
