always look to the highs. on the bright side, there's getting to be more and more daylight time now
EFI on the sleds is awesome. no more playing with jetting for altitude and colder/warmer weather... i sure like the FI on my quad... a world of difference over fighting with the carb'd one last winter!!!
pretty much everything is turning to FI now... and the power assist steering is the new fad. i think thats a bit much..... if i can't handle wrestling the handlebars around, i'll quit quadding.
I gotta admit at first I thought power steering was kinda goofy, but then Warren started talking about it, and I wouldnt mind trying it out. I wouldnt be afraid of armstrong though.
Wonder how much weight power steering would add though? That and extra parts to break or catch onto stuff would be my concern.
not sure about the weight added, but it was the cause of the death of 2 quadders south of here this past fall. the PS on a Grizzly had failed and the guys doubled up on another machine to finish a derby... as they were riding and chatting, they missed a cruitial turn and went over a steep bank... a ditch at the bottom put them in their grave. had that been conventional steering, less chance of something to go wrong, they might be alive today. i know, indirectly the cause of death, but hey...they wouldn't have been doubled and chatting if the PS hadn't broken...
i don't know how tough it would be to steer with the assembly not working. i think i'd be trying to detach the mechanism and finish the ride manually rather than double or leave the bike behind. i've never ridden one, nor looked it over to see what type of system it is... can't say what it'd be like when it failed. a good question though, i should try and remember to ask my buddies at Schraders next time i'm there!!
Patrick Swayze did ok with the tough guy role in the movie ''Road House''.
