5 out of 7 guys on the derby i was on spoke highly of the can-ams, but were plagued with electrical problems...one guy was on his 2nd set of pistons, one guy was on his 3rd clutch. maybe just an unfortunate crowd. i'll tell ya i was impressed by the power them things have though... mighty tempting if the price tag was a few g less...
i'm sure impressed with my kingquad, the few miles i've put on it. hopefully i'll get up to the cabin this fall for some more mud miles...
Well I wouldnt put anything past a king quad. My dad has had one for awhile now and its a tough machine. I know can am's are leading everyone in the power factor right now.
Just cause my buddies havent had problems doesnt mean there arent any. Before I did any serious looking I would find a few forums and see what the typical problems of them are.
I also got to drive a kawasaki brute force one time and it was a pretty powerfull machine too.
Ive had a bad taste in my mouth with polaris. Now i have had friends all over that have had them and they were garbage. To be fair though, most of them were in the mid to late 90's.
As for honda, that doesnt surprise me, they are, have been, and most likely will always be known as one of the best.
polaris have always been high/expensive maintenance, in my experience, but you can't beat the ride quality. the suspension is miles ahead of the competition. my wifes uncle has that polaris MV...weighs a ton, but the thing is a pure tank.
I agree with Sherm about the Polaris from what I've seen - great ride but some suspension maintenance. Honda is like the energizer bunny but they are not building quads with as many features as Yamaha and Suzuki - they are keeping suspensions solid axle, etc to have less moving parts but the ride quality just doesnt compare.
honda still builds a solid "no frills" quad, but in todays society with most people wanting things cushy and convenient they'd better buckle up and get with the program...

Do you know what the "no frills" quad is worth Sherm? Might be a good unit for the farm.
I really like Arctic Cat's that one quad they got the Thundercat with a V twin motor has a ton of power I imagine heard they did a test between that and the Can am 800 the thundercat has more power but can am goes through more
tell me about it. i'm disgusted. last october i bought the eiger 400, entry level machine for 8g... 3 months later they have the KQ, formerly 10g selling for 8g... i went in there and got them to work out a deal so i got the KQ450... now i could get the KQ750 for less than i paid for my 450. totally disgusting.
Time to trade up?
Thats just how things go - imagine what your 450 is worth! A guy from here bought a Polaris 800 and a 500 for his fiance. He didnt like the 800 and wanted to trade it on a 500 - they bought just before prices started to drop here. I think he told me the hit he would have taken was aout $5500 for one season.
