All-thread for truss rod?

Trying to help the neighbor with a broken truss rod on her one piece wooden garage door. Any reason I can't use all-thread for that rod? Seems like a proper 16' rod is a bit hard to find and I don't have a way to cut threads on one anyway, and the less time I devote to this the better.

Thanks for any thoughts.

Here's a place that has them -- no idea if they're any good or not.

I don't know much about them, but you'd want to make sure that the material in an all-thread rod was up to the job.

Maybe somebody like FordSix can answer your question.

Good Luck,

hj

I would likely either weld the old one back together or make a new one from round bar with a turnbuckle welded on one side or the other.
