Man thats a great truck. What's the camper? I'm using a mid 70's maple leaf that I've restored. How much traveling are you doing in it?
Hi, thank you!
The camper is a 1989 Western Wilderness 9' Alpine. We got it for a great deal deal about a year ago. 1 family owned before us. We had to reseal all the windows, Re-seal the entire exterior and we pulled and replaced all the curtains and flooring. Really turned out nice. Everything works; hot water heater, furnace, fridge, AC. We hope to have many more years of use out of it.
We have gone on 3 trips so far with the last one out to the Coast. Planning to putt around Washington State for many years to come.

Camper weight is 2300 lbs so pushing the truck limits. New RS 9000 adjustable shocks and looking into Air Bags next. Also a cooling issue that should be resolved by relocating the front bumper mounted spare...
I'd love to share a few notes with you. You can read a few posts from me in the "overheating 1975 supercab" thread in this forum. I've put about 50k on mine since I put it together, and we've taken a pile of longer (2500 - 6500) mile trips in it with the camper. I have air bags front and rear, and I have some learning experiences with them, but I like them. I used to have a bike rack on my front, which impeded air flow, so I moved it to the back, but there is still a cooling issue that I've fought hard on and still losing.
I haven't done this enough to PM you, but we should stay in touch, because we are fighting a similar battle.
Got on the camper bandwagon. Getting about 9mpg with the 460, but don't think the camper makes a ton of difference. Still cheap fun and I love the way you can actually accelerate uphill with 2,000lbs on the back. I also got rid of the alloy 16.5s and went back to 16in steelies with dog dish caps for the authentic look.
Sadly though looks like I have to let the camper go as I am moving and keeping it is not practical.

That's an awesome looking rig. And sounds about right for a 460. I get 8.5 mpg empty or with a ton of rock.
I hate to see you lose the camper. Where are you in Washington?
I’m down in Des Moines, not far from Salty’s. If I had space to store it, I’d sure consider getting it as I did enjoy running down the Oregon coast years ago with an 11’ camper on the first wife’s ‘72 GMC.
