Even with the small carb we gave it a go on sunday. Jetted down to 80 square with the 895 and on the advice of charlie evans, turned the timing back to 30.

Sure seemed like it was pulling harded and headed for 11.98 but the racer in the right lane dialed 11.00 and ran 11.1945 so I was on the brakes to not brake out.

Opponent dialed 10.17 and ran a 10.1793 with a -.0341 reaction so I was spared of my terrible reaction time and miss dial-in.

Looks like the crew chief did his job with the dial-in and the driver sucked this round. I ran .0031 off the dial, while the guy in the ex pro stock car ran .0284 for a losing margain of .0555.We had been in the sun for almost 11 hours, I got three hours sleep the night before and I was not concentrating. Not making excuses for crappy driving but I was kinda tired at this point. Even a little better crappy reaction tiem would have won the round. That would have put us in the final three of a 42 car field. The bye run was on the other side of the ladder but the prize for winning was $500 plus a National Dragster challenge hat&shirt, the normal trophy and a Wally.
Looks like it came together pretty good for ya next time take some no-doze befor you go to the line
It is definitely running better and consistent. Still needs more carburetor but the 1195 we have is a POS. I could have used some-no doze and a shower.
Ya little rest time will make a heck off a difference. Tired means slow reaction times. You gotta feel good going down the track an doing as well as you did considering how tired you were. All this hard work is paying off. Nice run buddy. Hey dont forget to post a video off your runs. Good Luck on future runs an hopefully more well rested.
How did you do this week end? I didn't get to race was swaping a small block into the daily driver gotta do something to keep her on the road
The track we race at only runs every two weeks because of low turn out due to fuel prices and the distance between towns here in wyoming. There is a race this weekend but we are going to miss it to get ready for pinks all out the following weekend (aug 8-9).
That small block is probably better for mileage but less fun to drive. I have been doing some thinking and decided to put the 300 back in the truck with a turbo combo and the 514/C6 into a 61 falcon.
Now wait a second. Am I reading this right? You are going to yank the 514 out of the F100 and put it in a Falcon? and then put a 300 in the F100? Not that the Falcon doesn't sound like a good idea, but 300 and a turbo in the F100? That's just wrong!!! Now don't get me wrong. I love turbo setups, but that just wont be right a 300 with a turbo on it that awesome truck. That truck needs/deserves a BBF in it.
Why not put a SBF in the Falcon with a turbo setup in it. Now that thing would be an awesome setup.
That's just my 2 cents worth. But either way, keep us up to date.

I am just thinking out loud. I really enjoy racing the truck because it is unique and I love dentsides. However, years ago when we decided to build the truck it was out of convenience. We had a 460 from a 79 6 door limo my dad built and a 79 f100 farm truck. Now that I am out of college and have a better paying job and can afford to supply money to the racing program I feel it time to build a full out race car. I would like to make the truck a street cruiser with the straight 6 300 and a turbo. I would lower the front more and move the rear ladder bars lower and put some big Mickey Sportsmans on it and be able to drive it to work daily. As the truck is now I only get to enjoy it about 10-15 days a year.
Hmmm, a 300 c.i. six & a turbo, sounds like a 'sleeper' to me ...you gonna use Ford turbo, right? .....why not v-6 & a turbo, then you could have dual exhaust easier.............

I was just thinking a 300 because that is what was factory. F100 custom with a 300 I6 and three on the tree. Don't want the three on the tree but I think the 300 would be cool. I need to do some research to find out more about this turbo setup.

If you are going to use it as a daily driver why not go with a new 5-speed. Would be floor shift and give better milage. You already have the pedals and it wouldn't be hard to convert them to hyd.
That would be kind of a slick set up. Nice lowered F100 with the 300 and an over sized turbo sitting off to the side. As 80F100man said, that would be a perfect sleeper. And I also like the idea of a ZF 5 speed behind it. Since you are thinking of using it as a daily, you would get a few more mpgs from it and still be able to roast the Mickeys off the back. Plus the satisfaction of smoking the doors off a little rice burner when you wanted.
