Got the old girl started yesterday. In my opinion it has never sounded so good. It idled great and doesn't smoke since we got rid of the BG Demon carb. The headers sound great and I can't wait until may 16th for the first race day.

Nice. What carb did you end up with? What did you do for exhaust?

the carb is a pro systems 1050. Started right up, idled and sounded great. It even came with extra air bleeds in case the tune is off a little bit.

The headers are the 2" primary fenderwells that we had built at Mad Dog headers.

Before they were coated...

I seen the headers. I meant what did you do for mufflers.

Doesn't have any yet, but I have the Warlock mufflers from a few years back that I am going to use.

The headers look good. Did you get a new truck? That truck looks yellow and I thought yours was red?

I see now that the yellow truck is your friend's truck, I would have saw that if I had looked a page back first.

Missed the first race last weekend. Changed the intake gasket over the winter and the newly installed one wouldn't seal so it sucked oil and smoked like crazy. Got a new one on yesterday, without the cork end pieces and it seems to have quit sucking oil but it still smokes little because of all the oil still in the exhaust.

Planning on going to a $5000 footbrake race on Saturday.

Still not racing this year. The block is at the machine shop getting honed and the rest of the parts are headed that way tomorrow to get assembled. Looks like the middle ring on piston 4 broke and the other cylinders glazed a little. Nothing new rings, bearings and gaskets can't fix. About $500 and another week and it should be going again.

That blows. How the hell did that happen?

If it makes you feel any better I'm on unemployment and cant swing the money to race my truck and it runs perfect lol. It still needs a roll bar though but plans got pushed back. Im hoping to run 10.70s with it.

I think the demon carb that my dad bought for it caused the ring problem. It was used, it always leaked fuel vast the removable venturies, loaded up bad and ran fat at WOT no matter how much you adjusted the air bleeds and jets. I think over the course of last year and the beginning of this year, it washed the rings out and glazed the walls enough to ruin the compression and oil control. I am running the rods and pistons to the machine shop tomorrow so they can finish hone it and start assembling the short block.
