thanks. I am pretty much a novice when it comes to electricity. Just added the alternator and just assumed it would work the same way as the old stock ford one.
I am kinda disappointed about not making the field since we missed it by about a tenth. If they had picked a 10 second field it would have been better. I had a great time and made the decision 6 months ago that we weren't going to make the field and were going to have a good time anyway.
They put on a good show and had a lot of cool exhibition runs, pro mods, jet cars, huge wheelie cars, 10 second diesels, etc. good time and a cool event/show for drag racing.
Man Mwvdub that sucks you were so close. I went 11.20s and they picked 9.90s so I wasn't too upset.
I cant believe they gave you a hard time. For 11.50s and slower you dont need anything but a lapbelt, driveshaft loop, and a catch can. I told the dude I ran 12.50s and he looked under my truck for a second and thats it. Didn't look in the bed or under the hood. Then as I was pulling away after getting teched he asked me if it had nitrous and I said no
Looks like they picked a 12.00 class, from my observations, but everyone picked for the class had to run for their spot against a 12.10 - 12.20 car.
Nice runs though. 12.29 is not too bad up on the hill. The Brown truck ran prety good too, 12.58 on the pass i got to see.
I blew the dodge up on thursday trying to fine tune in the nitrous on the street lol..oops. looks like they picked the class i was shooting for too. Ill learn next time to build a ford engine for it.
To bad about the Dodge. I tried to see all the cars run once and never remember seeing it and now I know why.
The funny thing about the brown truck is that it has ran 12.06 consistently for the past two years in Douglas. he had a head gasket let go a few weeks ago so he took the heads to MPG for a freshen and the truck seems to have lost a few tenths. he just replaced the seals, valves, springs and valve job and now he runs 12.20.
Got the new carb installed this morning. can't tell for sure since we can't make tomorrows race(to much rain) but it seems to rev faster and this mornings garage burnout was awesome. hoping this will pick up 2-3 tenths. still need to get the headers worked out. found a place in denver that will build a set like you want them and install them for $1500. seems like a good way to go for 2 1/8 inch stainless fender well exit units.
If you are looking for a place to have custom headers made, and you are willing to make another drive to denver to have the best work possible, i recommend Hanksville Hotrods!! Hank and his crew do reallly good work.
I gave up on the dodge and im stripping it down and parting it out, then selling the body. I also got bored running the truck, and decided to go for the 13's in it, the closest i have got is a 14.10 last sunday.. I am running out of RPM at the 1000 footer, so im looking for taller slicks so im not peddaling it after 1000 foot and can actually run it out... 1.932 60' on the 14.10 run!

I think Hanksville is who I talked to at Pinks. Looked like really nice stuff. Just need to come up with the money. Sounds like you are running out of RPM. not real sure how accurate it is, but the Wallace Racing calculator says you should run 13.90 @ 95 mph.
I think if i find a set of 30" slicks, it would put me at 100 MPH at 4550 rpm which is redline, so 13.90 -13.96 is what id be shooting for but not quite 100 mph.... just enough to say it happened lol.
I got a 1963 fairlane 2 door hardtop, and am still contemplating stuffing a ford 400 into either a vega or an s-10... Whatever i build will have a 400 in it, and will run 10's. I think i have leaned enough about tuning this engine.. I may not be able to make HUGE power with a 400, but i will get every damn ounce of power out of the 400!!

I am a big fan of Fairlanes. My buddy had one for years that ran mid 11's with a stroker 351 Cleveland.
What I think is interesting is the ford motor in a chevy truck. not to many people going that direction but lots the other way.
