Well I had my '07 EL reflashed earlier this week with the newest program and it worked for two days (about 250 miles). Today its acting exactly the same it did before the reflash... If I dont come to a complete stop (especially when the tranny is cold) it wont shift into 1st gear without a heavy right foot. When the tranny is hot its probably a 50% problem -- when its cold its 100% of the time.

FWIW.

YES, this is the very same problem I am having now before it warms up. So I do the same thing, Just give it the gas to make it down shift.

I know this is using more gas, but I just got tired of down shifting all the time in to low at every stop light. I am afraid to take it in again to be reflashed (first time, new at 250 Miles) as it could make it worse, seeing all the problems other people are having with their 07 transmission.

I wished they had a switch in the shifter like the OD switch I could just press at every stop lite to make it shift to low, instead of jacking around with the shifter.
OH well, FORD!!

Haven't posted much (if at all) on this board, but thought I'd share some of the stuff that's happened with my 07's transmission.

1. Crappy shifting, had the reflash (TSB).

2. Issues with changing gears, they installed a new master control valve (also a TSB I've found out for trouble with 2-3 and 4-5 shifts). Service rep said they'd had a lot of the newer trucks come in with sticking solenoids.

3. Now the parking lock system seems to have failed (truck rolled out of driveway while in park), yet to be resolved. Apparently this was an issue with some 06 Navi's that had an incorrect parking pawl installed.

Anybody else have anything similar?

As a side note, for those of you with the shifting issue (on SWB Expys). Which rear end do you have, the 3.31 or the 3.73?

Cool Transmission problem

You can find it at the top of Home page under recalls/TSB's, Not that will do any good I have had mine updated 3 or 4 times and it continues to do the same jerking after a few hundred miles I'm working on anotehr visit to the dealer now

Hope that engineer can get this solved. I have been having the line pressure surge that started before the bump and slam just before a complete stop. Please keep us posted as to what that engineer finds, that is if they will tell you.

Right, this is why I have not taken it back to the dealer again. I am afraid that they might fix one problem and cause two new ones.
I have just learned to "punch it" at every stop light or stop sign to make it down shift to low.
At least the parking latch still seems to be working and it has not taken off out the drive way. (yet)

I think their new 6 speed transmission is a "dud".
Had a E4OD in a 94 351 Bronco that shifted flawless for 100,000+ miles.
You would think that a newer design would be better, but I guess not always.

Anyone with an expy that has over 36k miles and the Premiumcare ESP(up to 75k) and had the TSB for harsh shifting and hesitation done?

Apparantly reflashing the PCM and the TCM are considered maintenance and is not covered under the plan because the UNIT was not physically replaced, you will be charged for labor.

I thought maintenence were things that wore-out due to use and time.

No where does it say anything about service for electrical components NOT being covered.

From the brochure:
These Are the Only Components Not Covered by Ford ESP PremiumCARE

Maintenance/Mechanical
Service adjustments and cleaning, batteries of all types and cables, belts and hoses, brakes(front hub, drums, shoes, linings, disc rotors, pads), coolant, exhaust system (includes catalytic converter), filters, fluids, lubricants, lights (bulbs, sealed beam, lenses), manual clutch disc, shock absorbers, spark plugs and wires, squeaks and rattles, tires, tuneups, wheel balancing, wheel alignment, wiper blades, and compressed natural gas/liquid propane fuel system components

Exterior
Service adjustments (glass and body parts), bright metal bumpers, door handles, glass, moldings, ornamentation, paint, rust, sheet metal, structural underbody framework, sideview mirrors (glass and housing), water leaks, wind noise, weatherstrips, wheels, wheel studs, wheel covers and ornaments, convertible top, fabric, liners, zippers and fasteners.

Interior
Buttons, carpets, dash pad, door and window handles, *****, rearview mirror (glass and housing), trim, and upholstery.

Also since I had to rent a vehicle, the was no reimburstment for that as well.

No, fixing a bad tranny whether it re-flashing or not is not maintenance. Call the 1 800 number in your manual. You dealer is a real pain in the azz.
