Anyone ever find this TSB? I would like to have mine looked at. Although annoying at times I am much happier with the 6spd over the old 4 and the millage is worth it. But it would still be nice if they could improve upon it.
Issue: Harsh 1-2 and/or 2-1 shifts, Tip-in hesitation or surge and/or long engagement time.
Action: Reprogram the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and the Transmission Control Module (TCM) to the latest calibration.
I took my expy to the dealer this morning with a printout of the above from this thread. The service tech told me he wasn't aware of the TSB but he'd check it out. He just called me and said it was valid for my expy and they did reprogram the PCM and TCM. I'm not sure of the build date for my expy but I bought it in March 07 if that helps anyone.
I won't have the expy back until tomorrow (they are keeping it overnight for a different issue) but when I get it back I'll report back again with any differences I notice.

Triboy - Anxious to hear if the reprogram fixed it. I test drove a new one today. Didn't see the build date, but the hesitation was bad. I really like the truck and would be trading a Suburban. But will have to go with a Tahoe if the hesitation is something that comes with the Expy and no fix.
Other thing I noticed when comparing to the Tahoe - the engine in the Expy seems to struggle and make a lot more noise on acceleration from a stop. Tahoe is much quieter on takeoff, about the same at highway speed though. Maybe that has to do with this 6 speed issue.

sounds like a sweet deal, no doubt.
I personally have issues with rental car returns having had a bad experience in the past, but with the warrenty you mention, I prolly woulda bit on that myself.

is that an EL model?
'07 EXP EB EL
not an EL, yesterday the 23ed we drove it 175 mile's,ride's so nice,is quiet, it's soooo smooth , handles great and did 20.1 mpg on the computer, hand calculated-19.98 mpg,it turn's over 1450 rpm@ 60 mph but the 6 speed keep's it from being sluggish, was suprised to read it hold's 7 qt's of oil,the dealer did an oasis on it,had two item's#1 seatbuilt latch and # 2 a battery, vary happy so far, been around equment my whole life,farming/heavy equment and over the rood trucking and this truck run's like a champ.
Ok, I have really jumped on the bandwagon late for this one:
I too was having some of the transmission issues seen posted here. Mainly, my Expy couldn't seem to decide whether to start in 1st or 2nd gear. When it DID start in second, 50% of the time it would downshift back to 1st, then back to 2nd again - even under light throttle input.
I figured that starting out in 2nd was a fuel saving measure, but sometimes even under HEAVY throttle it would start in 2nd, then of course, downshift back to 1st.
I really like my Expy, it's the best truck I've ever owned. So, I tried to look on the bright side - and I gently feathered the throttle from every stop. After deciding the problem wasn't getting better (in fact, it seemed to get worse), I finally took it in to my local shop a couple of weeks ago.
I went to my Ford service dept. with a printout of TSB 07-4-8 in hand, and they didn't even blink about performing the service. The TSB service fixed the issues immediately, and after driving 1,300 miles since the fix I can attest that the trans is running PERFECTLY. I shouldn't have waited 8 months to get the TSB work done! DUH...
I don't know if this TSB will fix all trans issues with the early-build '07 Expy's, but it sure fixed mine. Just thought you all might want to know. Thanks to everyone for sharing their input.
We have had our 07 exp 4x4 limited for about 7 mo's now. 7k miles on the speedo and it still hesitates. It drives my wife crazy then of course i have to hear it. I have had mine looked at by 3 different ford companies and none of them know a thing. I had the reprogram done and it helped for a short while but now it is back to the same ol jerk and go. I even had 1 dealer tell me that this was the learnoing stage of the transmission and that once it got used to my driving style it would adjust to it and quit jerking. I thought someone had stuck a sign on my forehead that said IDIOT. Anyway I am glad to know I am not the only one with this prob. I have a 08 f-250 and hae no probs whatsoever.
Hmmm good old FORD ... New Year New Problems. That's why they lost me as a customer ... I got rid of my 2001 EXP and got me 2007 Infiniti QX56 ... now that's a beast ... it just stands out.
I recently had quite an education in the electronic control of an automatic transmission. My '99 F150 was almost not "driveable". After taking it to two mechanics (including one who was a dealer), I was told by both of them that I needed a new transmission! (approximate cost +/- $3,000) I took the vehicle home and was advised by a friend to check out the transmission electronic controls. I found a blown fuse (caused by me when I replaced an oxygen sensor), replaced the fuse for $3.08 and the truck runs as if there was never a problem!!
My recommendation, take it to someone you trust who knows transmissions and who can do a thorough check out of the electronic controls.

a good friend of mine has one of those QX 56, really nice truck, interior is amazing, exhaust sounds good, but his is a piece of ****, it is in the shop more than he drives it.
Also how can you compare a $60,000 truck to an expedition. I can buy two of my 07 expeditions in the time you get your one infiniti.
