Transmission Problems?
I had this done to my 07 and it really helped, even though it still has it's odd operational moments at times. But for the most part it has been working ok and gets me from point A to point B.
So last week and this weekend my truck was shifting probably better than it ever has, so I was thinking maybe I don't need the update, but then I figured out when it starts to shift very poorly. There was a freeway closure on
Saturday, got stuck in stop and go traffic for about 45 minutes. About half way 20 minutes or so, of stop and go, it starts doing the thing where it starts in 3rd gear and jolts me forward when stopping. Then when i take off, away from traffic (try to get to speeds of 50-65 or so) I have no pep at all, little honda hybrids are flying by me. I am getting really fed up with this ****. Its a pain in the *** to take the truck to the dealership(this is the second dealership near me), because they screw around and dont make appointments in an orderly fashion, and dont provide permanent fix for the transmission. What is the point of having a truck with 300 HP and 300 something torque, if you probably can't even use the thing efficiently. I sure would hate to be pulling my trailer when this crap happens. This will probably be my last Ford. MY wife was against me purchasing it, she's fed up with it, and now I am fed up with it. When this thing gets out of warranty it probably will be time to get rid of it. My wife wants an suv within the next year, I will probably have to bite the bullet and pay a little extra to get the Larger mercedes or the Lexus. At least I will get a loaner car if **** doesnt work correctly.
One thing to check with the loss of power is as at least one other person has found here with their 07, is that a rubber sheet came loose inside the fender well and blocked the inlet tube to the air box. I checked mine and found the push pins holding the rubber sheet in place about to fall out. It is easy to check. The rubber sheet should be held in place with the push pins. The inlet tube to the air box should not be blocked by the rubber sheet, but fit through a hole in the rubber sheet.
As a life long Ford, Lincoln, Mercury person I too think I am going to shop around on my next SUV as I am not too impressed with this 07.
I don't think Ford gets it. I would rather have practical than fancy. But now days fancy sells cars, not practical it seems. I think to me that is the big difference between the 94 Bronco I had and this 07 Expedition is, the Bronco did not have much fancy, but it had a lot of functionality where it counts, Like gauges that were very easy to read and an automatic transmission that never missed a beat in 100,000 miles.

I now have 1012 miles on my 07 Expedition and so far the TSB07142 transmission reprogram that was done by the dealer at two weeks old @400 miles, seems to still be working ok, or at least a whole lot better than it was before.
I hope they don't need to replace your transmission because of the down time involved, but if it fixes the problem it will be worth it in the long run.
Also did you check the rubber sheet around the air box inlet inside the fender well for blockage? One other 07 Expedition owner here on this site reported that this happened to them.
This can cause off and on problems with engine power. It is easy to check. Mine was getting ready to fall down and block my air intake.
I caught it before this happened. One plastic pin holding the rubber sheet just fell out with a touch of a finger.
