I love it. This puts me a step up on both you old men
I was only kidding
My competition didn't show tonight. I ran three times by myself for time. The first time, I got to about 3000 rpm's at the line and it went right through my brakes She just wouldn't hold back. I was barely even staged at the time; I looked like a total idiot. The second run I held it at about 2400 rpms, lauched (it launches HAAAAAARD now) and got about halfway down the track when the Edge module decides it wants to hold gear and defuel. It backed down and I was aggrevated at this point because I ran over 9 seconds.
The third run I finally got right. Good, HARD launch and it shifted correctly. With the *ice* water on it held at about 1380 degrees EGT and pulled harder than I have ever felt it pull. I ran a 7.8 @ 89.7 mph. My 60 ft time was 1.63 .
I have quit launching it for a while because I'm afraid I am going to break something in the front end. It is pulling the drivers side front tire off the ground (according to my stepdad...I can feel it pull the drivers side some, but it doesnt *feel* like it is actuallly pulling the wheel off the ground, who knows ) and it jerks like a slingshot...
1.63 60' time is in the area where slick equiped drag cars run. This is a GREAT 60' time. I'm a little disappointed in your top end though. My truck ran 86.5 MPH with just 100 HP predator. It shows that your engine is not making much more power than mine down the track.
You can stop the left front from lifting with a front sway bar and air bags on the right rear and left front.

The Edge isnt that strong past 3rd gear. It is a down-low monster. I REALLY REALLY WANNA stack with the SCMT; the superchips makes some crazy top end power- the two together would be lethal, but there is just too much timing. I may be able to get a box custom burned from DPS to help retard the timing.
Maybe I'm getting there in the right direction this time
With my SCMT and heavy concentrations of methanol, my powerband was alot more toward the red-line end. If I can safely get the two to conjoin, I think I will see closer to the low-7 end of things pushing a 100 mph...I can milk the top end for more with some icy-cold windshield washer fluid.
Alot of people are against the whole stacking thing. What they need to realize is this. Fuel and boost can blow a head off, but the TIMING is the thing that will just WRECK the motor. If I can retard the timing to a safe point, I can start running the fuel and boost up (especially once I get the head studs, supposed to be out realllll soon ). Running the two together compliment each other until the timing really kicks in and she clanks quite loudly...Once I can get the whole timing straightened out and get a set of studs, things will get NASTY for my transmission. I might as well have the backup on standby and Suncoast on my cell phone speed dial

I forgot to add, the 1.63 time was with the tires spinning fairly significantly. Once the front drivers side pulled up, 3 is not enough to hold them and they spin pretty good- they dont *burn* but they slip. If I can keep full traction to all 4, it should get a little lower than that. It would be really funny to start seeing the 1.5x range in 60 ft.
I got to thinking about how much it would cost me to buy a set of slicks to use at the track on all 4 wheels, but I am really afraid something will break.

You see, my goal of 7.50 @ 95 wasn't unrealistic.
You can pick up a tenth by keeping all 4 on the ground. Try stacking the two on lower settings. W/S wiper fluid 20% alcohol will give you another 50-75 HP which should give you 95 MPH.
Good job Matt! I think i told you about that driver side tire comming of the ground out of the hole with mine. My best with the edge, stock DP and no filter was a 1.77 1/8 I cant wait to get the water! If only i had your weight!

I'm surprised actually
I wish my match would have shown up though
It appears mouth is not always backed up by rear end
I gotta do something about these brakes though. It just wont hold it past 2500 rpm's

Now that you mention that, I remember you saying it before. My front has a sway bar but apparently we need to upgrade to larger ones. I think Bob's plan for a set of airbags would work great; get bags on all 4's and pressurize the front right and rear left at a much higher pressure.
As for weight, your runs are excellent considering your mass. That is a HEAVY truck to be running as fast as it is. I could have stripped a bunch of weight off mine tonight (brush guard, tailgate, spare tire, ect.) but I was too lazy to bother. Should buy a half second at least, but I don't think it would help the traction.
Who would have thought a 4x4 would be having take-off traction issues on dry pavement?
I dont know how much harder you want to take off. On the street with a little less grip takin off any higher than that it confuses the heck out of the PCM. And wont shift out of first. Due to the four wheel tire spins, the ABS knows something is out of wack. With the traction at the track your asking for it. Take it to what ever the brakes can handle and let loose. Other wise your looking into a trans lock or higher stall converter.

Well your are trying to put close to 900 fpt, or more in your case with the water, to that drivetrain!

So far mine has been ok with the spin. It will lock into first even if burning out in 2wd on mine.
As for launching harder, I might look into a trans lock when I get my tranny rebuilt (might be a while though). The tires I have are shot (BFG's) at 8400 miles and I have already ordered a set of Dueler Revo's. They seem to be softer compound with better tread, so maybe they will be a little grippier.
I'm just not sure how much faster 7500+ lbs can LEAP off the line. It seems ridiculous even now. I would really like to see it on video, as something twice the size of the standard drag car doing the bullfrog has to be funny looking from the stands
When I first pulled up with mine I was getting look and laughs but after i took off and ran my 13.7 i had people comming out of the wood work. Even the anouncer got in to it. It was great especially in a location where they had no clue what a big diesel could do.
Look at your time slip and work on the areas where you can realisticly improve. My 9 second flat drag Mustang did 1.4 60' times so you know your 1.6s are close to max for a truck that size.
Look at my dyno sheet, yours is similar in power band. The Ideal RPM to leave is at Peak Torque which should be 2300 to 2400 RPM. Did you remember to leave in the tow mode? you raise the shift points by a couple of hundred rpm if you do so.
Where is BIG? He should be in on this too.
Enjoy! Now you get to work for very small improvements.
