Add me to the list of satisfied customers! I've been putting up with the on/off odometer for two years. I took one hour last Saturday and followed the guide in this post. It's been working great!!!

Thanks Dakota_Viking!!! I decided to tackle it and it was as easy as you mentioned. The only difference for me was that headlight assembly came out by gently prying it out with a small screwdriver. I then disconnected the wiring harnesses and removed one screw. Other than that it took about 1 hr and a half plus two beers.

Great post. My 2000 f150 has been doing this for awhile now. I am getting ready to sell it and thought I better try and fix the problem before anyone looks at it. It only took about an hour and twenty minutes or so. It seems to work like new (knock on wood) Thanks.

Great thread. I was shopping for an Expy and found one on a friends car lot that had the odometer problem noted on the window sticker. Ended up buying one private party last week, and today the odo went dead for the first time. Thanks for the tips, I'll tear into mine this weekend.

Took me about 30-45 minutes start to finish. The head light switch assembly was confusing me but finally it literally fell out. Boy that white plug on the back of the odometer cluster was tough to get off with my big hands but finally got it. The same post as pictured had a small hair line crack around the base. Soldered it up and it's doing fine now. Thanks for the tip! Through this site I've learned to efficiently change my plugs, fix my odometer and soon change out my heater core. Thanks again everyone!

Whoohooooo! Another 99 Expedition fixed. Took me about 45 mins and half a diet coke. This is an extremely satisfying repair and fun to do.

Headlight Switch

Yeah, The only thing everyone needs to know was on 97 and up thru the halfway of 99 was the slider mechansim that releases the housing after say May or June of 99 they went to the pry out type. Just look carefully before you begin, save a part expenese. Later Dskarl
