WTF
I bet as much as that hurt that you wished you lost the tip and had something good to talk about ........... not
Hope it heals fast, did the doctor give you anything for pain?

Yesterday we took the 3 kittens to get fixed. Jeepers, the black one that was found by my trailer with the sons Jeep on it and why the name, went to Family pet on 40/42.
Kevin & Reilly went to Benson Vet. Mary took Jeepers as she has to be back home for a phone call by 9am, vets opened at 8am, so I took the 2 to Benson.
We picked them up between 4pm and 5pm only Reilly was a little out of it when we got home but is ok today.

Did PT today set up for my last 1 in 2 weeks then I just got to hit the gym and do the PT exercises and I should be good I hope.

Did 2nd to last PT today and then my weekly food shopping and because we are having no tasting turkey burgers I bought 2 large onions and made my onions so they have time to cook down before we have them tonight.

More pain today than I had yesterday, I guess everything wore off and now the soreness from the doctors work. They gave me a prescription for declofan (spelling??) which is not very strong, really doesn't do a whole lot. I think doctors are a lot more concerned now about getting people hooked on pain killers so they try the lower level stuff first. Which is a good idea, I had a family member as a kid that got addicted to pain pills and wasn't pretty. The weird thing is I can be eating, sitting at the computer, outside on the deck for a smoke break, and it's not bothering me, but if I sit in my chair it starts to throb. If I lay down I really get some sharp pain. The key seems to be keeping it elevated but that's not easy in bed when you're trying to sleep.

Funny you mentioned about the finger being amputated, the doctor used that scare tactic on me telling me that for larger bones like the femur if there is a fracture they do everything they can to save it, but for a digit like a finger or toe they find it's better to amputate it and be done with it. I texted Sherry and said FFS he's trying to scare me by saying I might need to have the tip amputated! But I said not to worry that's not going to happen, I would get a second opinion, or a third, or however many it takes til I find a doctor who says he would save it. And then when he came back from xray and said it WAS fractured and a chip broke off, he made it like it was no big deal "it should heal itself, we'll prescribe some antibiotics to help make sure it doesn't get infected". Maybe he was preparing me for the worst so that I'd be happy it wasn't that bad after all, or maybe he was a drama llama

You mentioned the cats and I'm still thinking about what I can do with the strays around here. If they were kittens I could probably catch them, tame them, and find a home, but these cats are probably close to a year old and not friendly enough to approach and pet. Not too scared of humans, they will run past me and go up the steps to eat, but if I walk towards them they jump down and hide under the car until I have gone inside.

It's been rainy today but nothing terrible, meanwhile I turn on the news and there is flooding in Cary and Raleigh! Looks like they are getting the worst of it.

Oh those onions will help out the turkey burger I bet. We have gotten those from food lion before. They have frozen ones from bubba burger which are good, but the fresh store brand ones don't have much seasoning. I sprinkle some tony chacheries on it before cooking but it's still not as tasty as beef

I went to Lowes foods a few days ago and got their blackened salmon and a half pound of sea scallops. I just put the fish in the oven and pan fried the scallops in butter, it was the tastiest meal I've had in a while and thinking I might ride up that way again and get more.

I never gave it a thought of doctors not giving out good pain meds. Many years ago when I got punched in the face and my glasses broke cutting my eye I got some good pain meds.
When reading about your hand hurting I was thinking if you can hold it above your head or hart it would not hurt as bad.
Got a recliner maybe sleep in it with your hand on your head. When I had the gallbladder removed I had to sleep in Mary's recliner as it is motorized, could not lay in my bed and it is adjustable.
Loved the "drama llama"

I think Mary lent out our live trap but if you can set up a vet appt. to have them fixed you can trap one the day before I can get it for you.
We, Jack Apple (JCAPL) dose not have any connections to vets for discounts for getting them fixed

The onions were pretty good and almost all gone.
I am not into sea food but your did sound good.

I had the same thought as you, I tried sleeping in my recliner, same thing I would doze off and finger start to hurt and wake me up. I tried exactly what you said putting it over my head, like sorta resting across the top of my head, but for some reason the pain was even worse. So I got almost no sleep at all yesterday evening, worked all night. During work I dozed off but 15 minutes later I woke up again from the pain. I started googling it, it says when you sleep your body goes to work repairing itself. When you're awake your body produces cortisol to help reduce swelling and pain but when you sleep it stops doing that. So I guess every time I doze off my body is like "ok let's get to work on that finger!". lol. I was tired and frustrated then I realized the answer was an ice pack. After my shift ended I laid down with an ice pack and anytime my finger hurt I put it on the ice and it worked great, I was able to fall asleep and get a good nap. Woke up a couple of times from pain and would realize I knocked my ice pack away, just fix it back and go back to sleep.

I checked out the truck, and even though I can't do anything I will say it looks like my crowbar plan at least did help a little bit there. It might have cost me a fingernail but at least I got a millimeter of movement for it

Good to hear you were able to get some sleep as that helps a lot on healing.
At least you got that panel to pull down a little as there is nothing worst when happened to you and not have it move at all.
Dont go crazy working on anything and hurt the finger or get it dirty it is just not worth it to hurt the finger more.

Yesterday I went to PT and he worked me hard.
I over slept so I did not go to the gym when I like, 5am as there is not a lot of people there as they start to show up 5:30 / 6 and I am done by 6am.
I was also in a lot of pain from PT and even taking pills still hurts. Guess I am really out of shape
Going to force myself to hit the gym tomorrow morning and hope I can work this pain / hurt out.

So you do the gym, as well as PT? I had it in my head that it was one but it's both right?

I changed my bandage today, the doctor had told me when he finished to leave that one on for 2 days and then change it, and to come back Saturday so he can see how it's doing. It looked ok to me I goobered it up with neosporin and wrapped it up again.

My wife's Audi SUV has been "non starting" sometimes, maybe 1 time out of 10, normally when warmed up. Like come out of the store and get in, press the button and it cranks over a couple of time but never catches. Then on the second or third attempt it will start. I told her needs a tuneup, its got 140k and never been touched. So I had her order coil packs and iridium plugs, which I made her pay for, lol, and they came in today. So I did that job this evening. Fairly easy access, 4 cylinder and everything is right on top. The only PITA part is that you have to disconnect the harness at 8 locations in order to make room to pull the coil packs out. I think each of the 8 is for a fuel injector and that it has 2 per cylinder. Hopefully this little tuneup takes care of the problem, I forgot to get a fresh air filter so I will have to do that tomorrow. But you know they'd want $600 to do a tuneup on a German car and dang the plugs and coilpacks together as a kit was less than $100 from Amazon. Genuine Chinesium, I assume! I took great care not to stress or hit or even use my injured finger, I did a lot of the work left handed, and I wore a rubber glove on the right so that I would not get it dirty because I probably shouldn't be soaping it up and having that all soak into the bandage. Engine and starts easily and runs with no codes so I think I got it. And it was nice to get out and do something I have cabin fever from sitting inside.

I try and do gym the days I dont have PT and last few times I only been going to PT once a week so that was 4 days a week.
I also cut back PT to once every other week so last week should have gone 5 days to the gym but got lazy a day or two.

140 miles and never tuned up I think is pretty damn good. I guess no CEL but did you try and see if there were any codes?
I would think it could have code(s) but not set off the CEL.

Mary's sister, husband and niece came up from SC to Wilmington a month or so back, we met for lunch.
They had to bring their Audi up to the dealer as that was the closes dealer to them as it was due for it's first check up to keep the warranty, it had think something like 40K or less.
They bought it when they lived on Long Island and just moved to Myrtle Beach guess they did not look to see if there were Audi dealers in the area?

Good that you were able to work on the car with your hand the way it is.
I was thinking you must put a plastic bag with rubber band on the hand just to take a shower, not a lot of fun.

Dont know yet if I will go to Jordana's Saturday or not but Sunday I am thinking I got to be in Selma around 8am to start setting up as the Poker run starts at 10am and you know (we hope) people will be there before then and I dont want to be in the middle of setup to sign people up. Weather looks good for both Saturday & Sunday.

Just know a year ago last June every year I had to renew my CDL medical and the year before they changed who you got the waiver paperwork from.
It was all because of my eye and not able to pass the eye test for medical card. The DMV pulled my Lic. for a full month at first I could not get the paperwork, DMV said doctors and they said DMV, it was DMV.
Then I had to see 3 different doctors and they had to be in order by dates and all with in like 90 days IIRC. Thing was some were on vacation at different times and one wanted to redo the tests because his was too old and did not want issues with his Lic. Told him fine redo the testing.

After all that the wife said next year when I needed to renew my CDL, take tests for HAZMAAT and that I needed to renew my Home Land back ground and do the medical carb again she said no more and retire at 64 1/2.
With all this BS and got my Lic. back the 2 departments working the medical card paperwork got lines crossed and pulled my Lic. again. My insurance Co, called and said they were doing a check on my Lic. and the DMV pulled it again.
When I went in with paperwork that said I was good to drive their computers went down and could not do anything. I would tell work I am not making this **** up that I could not drive even my personal cars.
Smithfield DMV knew me pretty well so when I went in to turn off the CDL side but keep it so if I want to drive again I just need medical, tanker and HAZMAT they knew me by name and said "WHAT NOW"!

My wife was dreading the DMV visit to renew her license but found out you could do it online, every other time, so she did it that way and took 5 minutes. New license is on it's way in the mail meanwhile she can print out a temporary one.

Finger doing ok, went to doctor yesterday as he had asked me to return Saturday so he could check it. Said it looks good and healing no further visits until time to remove stitches in 2 weeks.

I went to visit my middle daughter and her family in Hamstead yesterday, had a nice visit. Wished they lived closer so we could visit more but on the other hands, count my blessing that's only 90 miles away instead of 900 miles away, which is how far I lived from my parents when my kids were young. Now that they are gone I really feel it and wish I had lived closer all those years.

I did not check for any engine codes as I just assumed if there were any codes it would trip the CEL to alert you. Is that not always the case? I'm surprised there was no Audi dealer in Myrtle Beach. I wonder if they could just bring it to a VW dealer instead, it's the same thing.

As for the CEL my 07 crown vic they say can have stored codes and not trip the light and with todays cars / trucks being run by computers that would be the first place I would start just to make sure.

I thought it strange there was not a dealer closer to them.
I dont know if the warranty would still be good if they did not take it back to Audi and that was why they did as it was the first dealer warranty check up.
I dont know how many miles they will put on it in a year but I think after that if a local garage could not do warranty work I would sell it and get something else.

I think you left today before the rain came. Tony & I helped the Amsoil guy break down hit can canopy as the wind was kicking up and was just starting to rain, had to turn on wipers just to get out of parking lot.
It came down pretty good at times but by the time I went by Wayne & Sue's house it stopped. If it did not by the time I got home the truck & trailer were staying hook together.
I got looking at my grass and with this heat and rain it has to be cut again, I dont look forward to another 4 hours on the tractor
Wish my grandson was a little older and I would give him a few bucks to ride around cutting the grass.
Grandson is down here with his mom Kendra I think for good and if all goes good my son has the house signing Thursday, they are in a hotel till then.
Thing is wife & I are going to New Jersey shore for the weekend so I cant help them move stuff and they cant stay here as the pet sitter is here and does not like anyone in the house with her.

I had a long day but I think your day was probably even about 2 hours longer than mine. When I got in the car this morning the first thing I remembered when I pressed the brakes was that the pedal was going low and I hadn't done anything with that this past week. But wasn't that big of a deal, but then by the time the poker cruise was over and coming back to the food court, the pedal was noticably even lower still. Then when we left, the pedal was almost to the floor so I pulled into the Advance parking lot by Tractor Supply, checked the fluid. It was a little low but not low enough to have gone below and sucked air or something. So I bought a brake adjuster tool and got under the car, turned the backs a few clicks, then got to the front. One side would not move at all, the other side moved 2 clicks and after that would not move at all. Does it lock up and refuse to turn anymore when it's all the way out? My theory now is the front shoes are worn to the end and thats why I have no adjustment left. I figure maybe this is a good time to move forward with the disc brake upgrade. So I've been looking tonight and pricing things.

We got rained on as well going down 301 in Smithfield but closer to Four Oaks it was completely dry, and then it did not appear to have rained at all at my house. Tom brought 4 engines blocks down and offloaded 2 from his trailer but then my engine hoist stopped working. So I thought it must be low on fluid, I went over there and filled it up and it's still not working right. Does not hold at all and does not go up when you pump it. I said the seals inside must be worn. Went to Harbor Freight for a new hydraulic ram and got there 5 minutes before closing time, grabbed one and headed back home. Then later realized I got one with a flat base but the one I needed has the round base, so need to go return it tomorrow. But we offloaded the other 2 engine blocks magila gorilla style, which was mostly Tom because I can't use my right hand for 2 more weeks. At least everything is inside the shop now.

That's good news about your son closing next week, and then it sounds like your grandson will be here from now on right?

*forgot to add: Norman and me had a little show off at the top of the overpass on 70; we were next to each other at the red light. I did a little part-throttle power braking and when my burnout started the light turned green and he stomped on it and took off leaving me so I went full throttle to try and save face but it was all "one-wheel-peel" with a lot of show and not a lot of go, and I almost caught up but there was traffic ahead and the way the brakes were acting I did not want to get too close to anybody in front of me! Meanwhile Tom didn't understand what was happening and at first he thought Norman was the one doing the burnout, lol.
