Warden has surgery on Wednesday to put her liver back where it is supposed to be.
Between surgery and the Farm estate mess (which dear sis has really messed up and is making it worse every day) we have cancelled our annual Diamond Lake 3 + week trip that was supposed to start on September 4th.
Reservations cancelled.

Applied on 6/21 for a renewal (I've had 2 others) and 2 weeks ago I get a letter that I need to re-apply and fill out a different application because now if it's so many years expired you have file as if you never had one. Wife never had one and got hers in about 6 weeks. I hear your supposed to be able to go to Seattle and get one in person if you're within 2 weeks of travel. Guess what, there are no appointments. So the fed on the other end of the phone says I wait and hope it gets approved and in the mail in less than a week. good luck too me...
Can't you go to DMV and update your ODL to the "Federal Real ID" DL. I thought those were supposed to work as "passports" to Canada and Mexico???
Morning all. New chicken coop is installed and wife is happier since it's about 3 times the size of the first one. Picked up the RV yesterday and am told it's good to go. we'll see I guess. While the big RV was gone I loaded up the slide in pop up and have been working at getting back to 100%. Admittedly, it's been neglected over the last few years with the move and having other RV's. Replaced the water pump and the burner in 3way refer, heater and stove check out so we are back in to being usable. I'm putting some lift struts on it next and then I'll decide if I keep or not.
Real ID is only good for domestic flights only. I think in 2025, if you don't have Real ID OR a passport, you will not fly anywhere domestically. .
Need some river and jetboat therapy badly so that is on the agenda at some point. The return of the heat makes sitting on the river even better. Should be salmon fishing but no sense in starting until get back from Mex if I make it at all.
You're right Rich. For some reason I was thinking that Real ID worked for Canada and Mexico but a passport was needed for everywhere else. When they first passed it I was thinking that was a selling point. Obviously not.
Service for Jack was pretty nice today. A lot of the classmates were there wearing school colors. A little different but rather refreshing for a change of pace.
Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 59 with a little smoke haze at ground level. Quite a pall of smoke hanging a few hundred feet up. Looks like a big bank of clouds to the West hanging over the Coast Range. Other than smoke haze, the Coast range on the North side of town is clear.

Like most things, you need to talk to several people in order to get any useful information. I called the passport number again and was told to call monday and then maybe I'll get an appointment in Seattle. Dude said you have to be within 5 business days of leaving. Talk to 3 people and get 3 different stories.

Just got off the phone with State Department... there are no appointments at any passport office anywhere in the country that could get me a passport in person. Awesome..
