Rich at the risk of having the NSA zap my computer, unless I missed something, you haven't said too much about your new job. No more deployments? Stateside work or at least in the Americas? Still crewing/training or something different. Enquiring minds wanna know.
My cousin asked me about the Taliban getting a helicopter with all the goodies we're leaving in Afghanistan. I told him it's inevitable. When we were in Iraq we were outfitting Iraqi Battalions with M-16s, Sniper rifles and 9 mms. It was recorded that in less than 24 hours one of those weapons was used to injure a US soldier. Most people don't know that, at least in Iraq, the solders take their weapons home. The Iraqis spent plenty of hours trying to recoup weapons from AWOL soldiers. Very different Army than ours. Can't comment about Afghanistan though.
Well good morning folks, we had ALOT of rain come way early this morning and and it just stopped. So my mowing the grass is going to be put off until mid week.
BJ well the timily on/off rotations are done, insert crazy travel schedule. I am sure NOT going back to Afghanistan here any time here soon, and in all reality probably not for a long time. When it comes time for the US to go back in 3 to 5 years (or sooner), I hope to be retired retired. Some guys have been known to work in European countries, mostly former Eastern bloc. Back on the Russian Mi-17, primarily as a inspector, some flying/crewing, NO training.
Yes there are pics out there of the taliban having a Blackhawk. That was one broke and left behind on the bug out, the ones we gave them we stripped down with no goodies on them. They do not have the ability (intelligence) to fix or fly them. Even the Afghans lost the ability to fix them when all the US contractor left. Almost the same way for the Mi-17. Some 46 (US provided to the Afghan Air Force aircraft, 22 planes and 24 helicopters) made a cross border flt to Termez airport in Uzbekistan. 585 "troops" AKA "personal family members" came with them. https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/46-a...kistan-2511949
Yes they have ton of left behind, up armored and soft skin vehicles. A ton of small arms/crew served weapons and boat loads of ammo. That equipment was supposed to be used by the Afghan forces AGAINST the taliban. You can dump a metric crap ton of water in a bathtub, but if the plug comes out, or you let the plug come out as soon as you leave the room.....well you know.
Alan, glad to hear the cat's okay. This "second truck", is that 'Tude back in the build or something new? Another client like Danger Ranger? To quote Grems, enquiring minds wanna know!
Rich and Pat. Yes, I needed a second truck several times this year and couldn't get anyone to run with me, so I'm gonna' build 'Tude. If it works out, GREAT! ..if it doesn't, I'll sell it and buy / build a modern chassis truck. I'm tired of relying on other teams because it always bites me in the end.
Well we had a busy day getting ready to be on the road for a bit. Mowed some grass, cleaned up and put away stuff. Went and helped the X bro in law move cattle.
Going to Spg tomorrow for late lunch/ early dinner with the step daughter/son in law and 2 of the grand children.
Just did a rescue call on the X bro inlaw, his newer (2010?) reg cab F350 SRW w/DewEze bed farm/feed truck. Broke hard out in the middle of the "40 acre cut thru", as we call it, after a 4wd 4L operation to get across and up out of a very rough creek crossing.....while hauling 2 giant round bales. Blew a passenger side axle u joint in a bad way. Had to go pick up 3 and a pup dog.
I replaced the sunroof motor on the wife's 2013 Explorer. The sunroof didn't work when we bought it a month ago and the place we bought it from said they would fix it but that meant time off work to drop it off, driving the wife to and from work for however long it was in the shop. I was way cheaper at $120 for the new Motorcraft sunroof motor than the hassle of the car lot having it replaced.
We're on our second day of a yard sale. As soon as the sun dries the grass out, I'm gonna hop on the mower and get this yard knocked back down. I got my new starter and exhaust pieces for EQ yesterday, so that'll be on the agenda for Monday.
good morning missouri.. sounds like life is treating everyone well.....
hopefully i can sneak over to town and do a few errands without the gestapo catching me.. i dont know what the ticket for driving with expired plates would be ..but dont really need to find out.. ha ha ha ha ..
i need to build me a buggy so i can use my horse.. no insurance, license plates, state inspections and i wont even need my drivers license anymore..... sounds like a good plan to me...
