A Canadian team hasn't won the Stanley Cup since 1993. I can get maple syrup from Vermont, but Quebec does produce far more maple syrup so I'll grant you that Canada is known for that.

Oh. I Thought you were setting me up for a good punch line so I replied with a joke.

Canada and the states are very similar for way of life. If you weren’t big into guns, you wouldn’t be able to tell a difference. I think US gets a bad wrap because it is a world powerhouse which makes it in the spotlight. It’s always easier to see clearly in the light rather than
in the shadows.

I’d say Canada is mostly well known worldwide for its hockey but I can see that changing. Hockey programs in the US are catching up and gaining traction. More world players are opting to go the college hockey route than ever before. The college route in hockey is a failure to a player here.

I watch this Canadian defector that believes the USA is the best country in the world. Teddy probably knows him. It's our freedoms that make the difference in his case.

I know, a bit off topic of what Canada is known for.

I love when people say that a Canadian team hasn’t won the cup since 93. The last Canadian teams to make the finals were Edmonton and Calgary and they were playing Carolina and Tampa Bay. I think 2005 and 2006. For those years, I cheered for Carolina and Tampa Bay. Do you want to know why? Because they had more Canadians on their roster than the so called Canadian teams.

Last year the St Louis Blues won the Stanley cup. On their 30 man roster, 21 of the players were Canadian.

To say a Canadian team hasn’t won is not accurate. To say a Canadian city’s team has not won would be correct.

Last year the Toronto raptors won the NBA title. They had 1 Canadian on their team. I don’t consider that a win for a Canadian team even though all the ban wagon jumpers that couldn’t name more than 2 players were celebrating a Canadian win in my area.

That’s office glen. 😂

Canada has the same freedoms as the US but it’s limited when it comes to firearms and hate speech.

But we do pay for it. Our taxation is higher to cover the costs. Our wait times are longer but it is nice knowing you aren’t going to have to sell the house because your HMO doesn’t cover some weird disease.

Well, it depends on what your "status" is in the good ol' US of A. Most of the people are hard working, honest, and contribute to society. But, there is a segment in our society that have never paid for any kind of medical treatment, ever. They don't even have to provide lunches for their kids, they live on free or subsidized housing, get free cell phones, EBT cards that can be used for anything, and generally don't have to provide jack shxt for themselves or their family. These are the people you can observe protesting, looting, and rioting. Unfortunately, an exorbitant amount of our tax dollars go to propping these dead-beat a-holes up so they can not do shxt all day while we work and pay for that to happen. I'm no expert but anybody that actually paid for their insurance knows that the disaster that was, hell, I can't even bring myself to type the name, the crap health insurance that was mandated on us by the last regime, caused health insurance premiums to skyrocket and the deductibles were ridiculously high. WTF.... So, our insurance costs are artificially inflated to deal with the costs associated with Pookie's (unemployed convicted felon) helicopter ride after getting shot in a drive by, and the subsequent 7 surgeries to fix his sorry, unproductive a** so he can go back and procreate so we can have another generation of leeches and miscreants. Sorry, can't sugar coat some things.

Yep there is a segment of the population that gets everything for free. The rest of us hard working folks foot the bill. Aside from those you mentioned there are the ones that are here illegally OR the families bring over that have never paid into our system YET we get to take care of their decrepit selves.

I can get care whenever I want and am not waiting in line for months. I will not pay more in taxes to wait; that's nonsense.

100% correct. I didn't want to go there in the same post. Damned shame what we have to pay for.

It’s good to hear honest views from the hardworking Americans around here. The “free” healthcare system has its pros and cons but whenever the topic is brought up, free doesn’t mean better for all situations.

We have our fair share of deadbeats around here that are more than happy living off the fruits of the tax payer. A few years ago, I went to the doctor to get a prescription for my favourite headache drug and the doctor would not write the prescription and sent me to the hospital for an emergency CT scan to see if there was any major problem before trying to mask it with drugs. I was told be the ER staff that they were extremely busy with overdose and detox cases so the wait was going to be about 10hrs. It was nice to know that me being a highly taxed individual was treated as an equal to the scum of the earth drug addicts. Those addicts chose to do that harm to themselves where I could of had a potential brain bleed that could of caused me to stroke out.

Our government looked at going to a tiered health care system but everyone was screaming discrimination. I remember when I was on Facebook many moons ago, one of my buddies ranted about wanting to have a tiered system and another one of my friends commented saying that she as a single mother of 3 (3 different dads) should not be treated less than anyone else because she wouldn’t be able to afford a better tier. My buddy quickly replied with something like, I would ask you to shut your mouth but first I think you need to learn to shut your legs. 😂 Man, did that get a huge argument going so I just sat back eating my popcorn and enjoyed the show.

Wow, that was an epic comeback. I bet it did ignite a shxt-storm. In 2010 I had to go to the ER, from the dr's office. I had what I thought was heartburn but it turned out to be what they thought was heart attack. Got to the ER and they wanted to fly me to another hospital but I asked them what that would cost. $11k back then. I had insurance but I said "hell no" and they took me in an ambulance instead. Turned out to be a clot or something because they couldn't find any blockages or anything when they did the heart cath. Clean bill of health. Point though; working people are really screwed when faced with a choice of going to the dr or not. Leeches don't care, they aren't paying for it anyway. Nothing but the best for them.....
