Whaddup fellers!
Long day yesterday. I left the house right at 8am for a 4 hour round trip to get another German Shepherd that we think we need.
My 2013 died on me just as it hit hiway speed. It just lost all power out of the engine, almost like the fuel pump went out.
It only took two different tow services to get me, and it was only 18 degrees outside. The first place said they could have a guy there in 45 minutes. Well 90 minutes later, and two previous phone calls, and some pretty cool choice words, I cancelled them and called an outfit that was even further away. But the actually showed!
So, 4 hours later, I'm back at the house, and only made it 1.4 miles.
The truck is in the shop, and hope to hear from them this morning. We're just hoping that what ever it is, is covered by that extended warranty that we bought from Carmax.
I was really proud of myself. I didn't break anything (yet) and I'm still Sober!
Thanks Tony.
But we're gonna end up being alright.
The extended warranty we paid for is really stepping up.
It ended up being the fuel pump moduel, and with the diagnostic, discounted parts and labor since it's a warranty repair, the bill is over $700, plus warranty pay's the first $100 of a $196 tow, and our insurance will pay the rest back to us.
And our deductable is only $150!
My BinL's 08 threw a fuel pressure regulator code, when it died. Also replaced the fuel pump drive module (problem with that year). But, that may not be your problem.
Well fellers, I did get to pick the truck up yesterday afternoon. It fired right up and ran great....for 6 miles and some change.
By mile number 7 it would barely move under it's own power and back on a tow truck.
So I'm back in the same rental car (now the shop is paying for my fuel too) and I'm nervous about picking it up whenever they say it's "fixed" again.
Might get ambitious and change the transmission oil temperature sensor in my 95 F250. Of course have to drop the pan so might as well do the filter too. Maybe even install a new radiator too.
No Tony, I wish it was though.
We bought that truck from Carmax in Charlotte because I had to have that color. And we bought their extended warranty, and Ford doesn't except it, go figure.
The nearest Carmax is 50 miles from us, and they had no problem honoring their warranty, and getting me set up with a rental car, and the deductable is even less if it's at a Carmax shop.
Now, if they'd just fix it.
I did mention that I drove 50 miles to pick up my truck that I was able to drive 7 miles, and that it will be a trip back home, and then another trip back to the truck (100 miles round trip). So now they're taking care of the fuel that I use in the rental car too.
