So now Im finally getting around to order the stock Ford factory parts and post #266 has me second guessing the swap. I want to do this once and not re-visit it due to a failure or mis-alignment.
I ended up going the PMF block route back in December and have been happy with them and had no issues at all. I think a lot of the confusion back early on in this thread has been exactly what truck you have since there are differences between them all, in my case and in particular with the 2017 350 DRW...
Finally got time to put spacers in. 2017 F350 CCSB SRW
6C3Z-5598-A Spacers
BC3Z-5705-C U-bolts
N620485-5441 U-bolt nuts
Torque in 4 stages. This is what I found online if it's not correct someone let me know.
1- 48#
2- 96#
3-148#
4-195#
At 5'9" and 165# I just about didn't have enough A$$. Hope I don't need more.
Truck has 1-1/16" of rake. Also going to install air bags. EDIT----------------I have a B&W and 50 gal aux tank full in bed.
I just ordered the blocks yesterday. What you can do, and it's cheaper, is just order a pair of 2.5 degree shims the same width as the springs and use them with the ford blocks.
Are you angling the pinion down in the front with the shims or up?

Looks great exactly what Im going for. Which air bag system are you adding? Im leaning towards the brand with the internal bump stop. Had Firestone in last truck no issues, just like the idea of that internal bump stop, may be over kill.

Can anyone advise on what size nut is on the U-Bolt for this swap? Need an impact deep socket of the right size before I get started.
My step-by-step with photos (link below) says 24mm which is the same as 15/16". I held both wrenches side by side and could not see or feel a difference between them. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post17607426
Shims??? There is definitely an angle to the original block. My initial thought was buy shims. But then I got to thinking, normally shims are used when lifting in order to realign the pinion and transfer case. If the rear was lowered, wouldn’t that mean the driveshaft is sitting closer to level and there wouldn’t be a need for shims? And if you add an angle back into the rear wouldn’t it put the pinion and transfer case out of alignment? Maybe why the 11-16 trucks didn’t have an angled block?
