"The front axle of 4x4 trucks is suppose to be off set in relation to the rear axle. This is to help the truck obtain better traction in off road conditions. By not having the rear tires in the exact same path as the front it allows the rears to access fresh terrain to attempt greater traction. The U.S. military developed this theory around WWII the ****** jeep of WWII is a great example of this. That is why trucks have a tendency to dog walk when you are in deep narrow ruts. Now it has become the industry standard. Also as to where the front drive shaft exits the Transfer case. Notice it exits on the left side instead of the center, You'd have to shift the engine to the right.
Hello, just wanted to say thanks for the great info here that has helped me and one question. So yesterday had the BDS 2" level kit with the Fox 2.0 shocks installed at a local garage that installs lift kits etc. I'm experiencing similar issues others have, the "floating" steering and poor alignment, truck goes right pretty hard when wheel is centered. I'm guessing they didn't install the caster alignment cams, or just a poor adjustment on alignment. Headed back there first thing this morning to get it corrected.
The ride is very firm, much firmer than stock Ranchos, I figured a little firmer with the 2.0's but seem to be extremely firm. Is there anything this shop could have done wrong with the shocks ? They seem overly stiff. Thanks and a before and after of truck
What makes it right ? The Cost ? The adjustable one only makes the track bar longer/shorter and adds another hime joint. When it actually works better if the Track bar is lowered back to the original angle which is what the Bracket does. Just like the lift kit radius Arms drop brackets do to correct them or the Drop Pitman arms. Been working and owned the largest FE Shop in Va/Md strictly on front ends for 30 years and some of this stuff is too funny. The front end on any truck with a straight Front Axle is gonna be off 1/4 " from the factory, just can't see it with the factory tires/wheel. If it was dead center with the rear you would have Issues.
YEAH we all know you've owned the biggest best shop on the East Coast... LMAO
we had an x45 a few years ago, the year with the big block is it the 6.0?. It sucked some water in the motor due to a faulty exhaust manifold and threw a rod. lolz. we now have a 2001 x10. sweet little boat.

Does the truck constantly pull to the right? alignment issue!
Or is the steering wheel just off center? meaning, the steering wheel looks as if your turning, but you're actually driving straight? Let go of the steering wheel while driving, does it still drive in a straight line?
So I went back this morning to the garage that installed my BDS 2" Level kit, test drove it with the alignment tech doing the work on it. He worked on alignment more and the best they could do with the castor adjustment cams provided with the BDS kit was 3.3 as seen below. Drove it again and it was still off. So I had to go down the street to O'reilly's and picked up some of the Moog adjustable cams (Amazon much cheaper). Can't believe the BDS cams won't work with the kit to get the front end aligned properly. Adjustable cams installed tomorrow. I'm going to reach out to BDS and see what they say. Thanks again everyone who has posted some great info and a big help to me getting this done.
I did notice, on the alignment computer they have plugged in 2011-2016 F250/350, with mine being a '17 might this be an issue getting it properly aligned ?
Little more info, my truck stock had a 3.5" rake, now at 1.5" . The 2" BDS level kit with the Fox 2.0's raise the rear 1/2" additionally and a total front end lift of 2.5"

That's sucks about the bds cams, cuz my truck was nearly perfect before the alignment with the Carli suspension cams. I almost feel ripped off having to pay for the alignment at all LOL
I spent about 5 hours today at the alignment shop following the instructions I was provided upon calling BDS to figure out my issue. Removed a little caster like requested and it did not help at all. Finally added more (didn't get the final print out) and it helped but is pulling slightly so i have to go back as the shop had other appointments and just couldn't spend anymore time on it. Not to mention i also ordered the Kelderman dual steering stabilizer kit to help with the bump steer I feel when I hit even the slightest bump in the road.
Can you actually see the alignment cams while looking under the truck? If so which area on the front end should I look at? I want to make sure the shop I used installed the ones that cam with my kit.
So has anyone that was experiencing the "loose" feeling in the steering after leveling their truck resolved this issue? I took out some caster, at BDS' request with no relief to my issue. We then added about another degree to the Caster with a slight improvement. No I'm wondering if I should put in radius arm drop brackets to possibly help. I'm still waiting on my dual steering stabilizer from Kelderman but would love to fix the issue and not just mask it.

I went with the 2.5 ICON spring level and have zero issues with steering.. I do plan on going with dual stabilizers as i have always done in the pa

It would be nice to know who has the adaptive steering and who does not that is experiencing issues after a leveling kit is I stalled. I would assume that the platinum and king ranch trucks as well as lariat ultimate all have adaptive steering but many of the others do too. I have lariat value package and have adaptive steering on my truck. Just a thought as I know there a few threads about the possibility of issues with these. I don't really see how it would matter as I understand it the AS is mostly speed dependant .
