My brother has been a mechanic all his life and he can bend metal in a vice but couldn't use any of the shaping tools if his life depended on it and I can't tune a carb.
We still have a day of fairly mild weather days before it cools off here Perry.
That`s good job security if it`s a madhouse at work Steve.
Our house needs new shingles but I`m going to wait till spring John.
What type of work will you be doing in your new shop Perry?

[QUOTE=privateer, eh;18321617]Yeah it would be nice to see it hung up on a wall, been thinking about making shelves out of the bumpers from my 54 Mercury.
That sounds neat, pictures please when you have it done.
How did your evening shift go Steve?
As a kid I had a VW beetle, it kept me broke trying keep it running.
I'll stick with body metal on vehicles that are worth rebuilding, chopping roofs, frenching lights, stuff like that, maybe roll up some motorcycle gas tanks if I get a bead roller. The bead roller would allow me to put patterns on panels and 3d flame outlines. I've worked under the Privateer name for 20 years so it would be natural to advertise under a skull and cross bones label, would make a good gas cap or headlight bucket for a bike. I won't be the guy you bring your taxi or 92 Honda to, I'd just tell you to take it to Federal Metals and get your $110 a ton for it.
Good morning Morris, Perry, Grant, John and wandering misfits..
I didn't have to work yesterday Morris.. it was our thanksgiving .. at least I will have some help tonight, not Sure what the next couple nights will hold for me..
I`ve never had any aptitude for automotive body metal work Perry, I really admire someone that has the skill. True craftsmen are born....not made. I think here that prepared scrap metal maybe more that $110 a ton but it fluctuates pretty wildly all the time.it did turn very cloudy here by mid afternoon.
We had our Thanksgiving last month, for some strange reason we celebrate it earlier than the USA does.

The snow will be gone by Monday, but it looks like we've gotten an inch so far and its snowing a bit harder now. After this break I get to break into a garage so that I can get the door open.
Once in a while on a warm, sunny winter day the two big bi fold doors get iced up at the bottom. Whiles not it`s hard to chip away the ice it takes a bit time.
Met this guy at Tim Horton's in Dryden today, nice fellow. He's driving back from Cape Breton and headed to Vancouver. The truck is a 46 KB6 International originally from Saskatchewan where he lived and worked making prosthetic limbs. He makes music and gave me a CD he recorded. I helped him out a little. The truck has a Ford straight 6 300cu. in. and 4 speed transmission and the rear axle is from a 1 ton Chevy. He has a wood stove in the back and sleeps on the floor wrapped up in a sleeping bag...lol
The tenants kept the keys for this place and locked all the doors when they left, looks like left a cat or 2 behind also. Couldn't break into the garage without doing damage so tomorrow when the person looking after the place is there I'll break the lock and send him for paint and a lock.
Twas a treacherous drive home today, this truck is one of the worst vehicles to drive empty through fresh snow on slippery roads.
It wouldn`t be hard to strike up an interesting conversation with that guy at Tim Horton's, did you give him some wood for his stove John? After the many BC fires this past summer it could be slim pickens. A lot of old trucks came from Saskatchewan, we`ve been picked clean.
The person looking after the place rental place doesn`t have spare keys for it Perry? In the winter I used to remove the other side duals on my 1 ton trucks, I found that really helped with traction.
