I never watch BJ, I don't know if we can get it on our satellite subscription. I was totally blown away when my neighbour said he`d list that blue 56 M100 for $2,000 for me as I never thought it would sell. It sold within 2 days to the first and only buyer that showed up. Old vehicle prices have gone absolutely crazy these days, like everything else.
That could be John, had to leave some negotiating room. Likely I would have let it go to you for $1,000.
I offered a lot of old Ford/Mercury trucks and cars to a lot of people, none of them took me seriously.
Last fall I looked at this local truck advertised for $16,500, I figured it was worth $10,000 to $12,000:
''1954 Mercury M100 on a 79 F150 frame with a 351 Cleveland engine and C6 auto. It has electric over hydraulic hood. This is an older restoration and a fun driver the way it is or you can take it to the next level. This truck runs and drives great and reason for selling is need garage space''
As far as I know it`s still for sale, the owner is away for the winter. It looked good parked beside his 70 Boss 302 and 2013 Shelby.
I'd sooner start out with the one you had sitting on the trailer and make it what I'd want, the 54 looks not bad but I bet it still needs a lot of work...Looks like there is a fair amount of body filler just on that front fender so no telling what the rest is like..The inside needs to be gutted
That 54 is actually quite solid from what I could tell which is why I had some serious interest in it.The missing bondo only covered up a minor dent that someone was too lazy to hammer out. I saw that truck some 20 yrs ago just after it was painted and it was very nice. Unfortunately it was left out in the weather for too many yrs. I saw it again about 5 yrs ago, it had not run for many yrs and was for sale at $5,000. This fellow got it running, flushed the gas tank and did some other minor work to it. Since I know some of the history on it I`m inclined to think it's worth in the $10,000 ball park. Not much else out there which is why I bought back my 53 resto rod.
