19 C ° here now.
Was going to drop into the Shifters Car Club get together at the local A&W but found a few things I needed to fix on my Bobcat trailer. A few more showers come thru so I`m not sure how the car meet went.
Morning Morris. No I havent been. My dad was a volunteer and my older brother is. Due to a few issues I cant do it. But I have grown up around the fire service as well as the US Coast Guard.
Happy Sunday Mornin'all. Built a 16x16 raised garden yesterday, and waiting for the Local garden center to bring me 5 yards of mixed soil. A few more yard project's, then it's truck time. Spent too much$$$$$ this spring, but have enough to do on the truck, without breaking the bank. Light drizzle now. Hope they will deliver the soil today. Have a great day guy's.
The US Coast Guard would be very interesting Shaun.
Good morning Grant, how much was the mixed soil? Here the large green houses are very expensive and the smaller individual suppliers aren`t much better. Screened soil runs around $25 a yd and garden mixes can go as high as $35 a yd plus a delivery charge for less than a 10 yd load.
It was Morris. Just ask my dad. That's why my younger brother and myself are from New York while my older brother and my parents are from Baltimore. He has some stories from his time in the Coast Guard. he served on several cutters while he was in the service.
I know what you mean Morris. I am working on trying to get him down to see one of the cutters he served on. it is preserved as a museum ship in Key West Florida. When the Coast Guard decommissioned it, it was the oldest serving cutter they had. It was built in 1936 and was retired in 1988.It had geared steam turbines and oil fired boilers.
We have the USS Torsk ( a Tench class submarine from WWII), The Light ship Chesapeake, The USCGC Taney ( Sister ship to the one cutter my dad served on) and the USS Constellation docked here in Baltimore as museum ships. We also have the SS John W. Brown which is one of only 2 Liberty Ships from WWII still in use. We also have the N/S Savannah which was the first nuclear powered cargo ship in the world.
Good afternoon folks
Nice and warm out here today with some light breeze, perfect laundry and race day, get to use the free solar dryer system outside. Got my dandelions plucked and it looks like I'm getting ahead of them . It's supposed to cool down next week so it'll be a good week to soak the yard and get the moisture level back up and maybe I'll put down some seed to thicken up the areas that had heavy weeds.
Hope your enjoying your weekend everyone .
