I'll have a week or so to make sure this truck runs and to check out everything. If this garage deal works out it'll get parked there so that I can work on these 2 projects indoors in a somewhat real shop. May get them done faster.
I like the newer hydraulic systems but at 70 years old these older ones cause me to have second thoughts about how much I want to use them and what kind of safety issues that may come with them.
This 1950? Mercury that I'm picking up is a M68 as far as I can find out and I was curious about whether the hydraulics back then were of reasonable strength. I won't be using them all the time but was hoping that they would be safe for about 2 tons including deck weight.
Might have a deal on a garage about 200' from my place and can see it with my camera system so it would be somewhat safe. Its insulated, drywalled, lit, fan, and has 220, 110 power.
Pretty trailer Gerry
That is what mine is and you should have no issues with yours.
Another nice day here, no rain which is a good thing.
I don`t think that there is a lot difference with the newer systems except for wear Perry. As long as everything is in decent shape not much to worry about. Remember to have just a bit of rear over hang to reduce the hoist work load, other than that it should work fine.
My son did the same Gerry, now they have a yearly rental lot at the lake where they leave their 5th wheel camper year around.
Good evening everyone, been a nice day here. Should have had everything ready to paint because if I had I could have painted today. Supposed to be cooler and raining the next 3-4 days . I blew my chance...lol I was trying to tune-up the engine today instead..
Bit of a warm one today, ice cream break time with Frankie, she's had her licks and I'm waiting for it to soften up a bit. We have a crew digging up the intersection at 17th and there's a bunch of morons that don't know what the word detour means so they're inventing a new detour, my street is a 40 car a minute thorough fare now. There should be a stupidity while driving law, even the alley is getting heavy traffic.
It`s definitely yard weather here too Grant.
It`s always a matter of choice as what to do next when there is so much to be done on a vehicle John. Hopefully that cool weather and rain slide by quickly.
My dogs love ice cream, I`ve never tried it with my cats yet. Call the cops about that detour traffic, my grandson got a ticket for taking a different route on a detour sign.
I've been lacking ambition lately and missed my opportunity because of it today it was so nice out there and 70°. The yo-yo is on its way back down so waiting for the weatherman to start pulling on its string. I'll be ready next time...lol
June had her grandkids counting cars by the minute and their totals ranged from 38 to 53 cars per minute, kept the kids busy. She eventually set up the picnic table bench and had them selling custom handmade bracelets for a dollar, lol. The store owners at the strip mall are livid as it was their parking lot that everyone was cutting thru, both Danny and Tom called the city and got alibis instead of action.
Got the back yard work area completely done and ready for the truck and should have the truck fully loaded tomorrow.
Nice day here also. I had to take my daughter to the emergency as her horse stepped on her foot, fortunately nothing broken so back she went. Also scored some gauges and tips for my cutting torch from a fellow who is getting out of the antique car business. His shop burnt to the ground a year ago and he had no insurance. Most of the stuff he had was GM other than a Studabaker and International pickups.
Most of my ambition evaporated away about 3-4 years ago John, what I have left isn`t worth mentioning.
38 to 53 cars per minute is ridiculous in a residential area, something needs to be done and soon! How long is this intersection going to be dug up?
Glad to hear your daughter`s foot is ok Colin, it would be terrible if it was broken. I`m not quite ready to sell my cutting/welding torch but I hardly use it since I got a cut off wheel and a plasma. Studebaker made some neat trucks.
