I am quite comfortable with computers, however mine are all Linux Anyone here able to confirm if I'd need the extended license to do things like turn off the bulb outtage warning? If not, I'll set up WINE, if so I'll get a VM configured. (I actually configured a VM yesterday but I thought I'd load it up with qemu to save time and I did something wrong because it's stupid slow.)
Interested to try FORScan, I've been limited to mostly using raw HEX and google when talking on OBD2 since I've no interest in running a Windows PC for the purpose. Wish it was open source... I might try to work out the PIDs it's using and re-creating it open sourcey so it can be used in embedded projects and the like.
These values are obviously hexadecimal. 32 hexadecimal = 50 base ten. 3x16=48+2 = 50. In hex A=10, B=11, C=12, D=13, E=14, and F=15. 0-9 are the same. So to calculate a setting of 72, you would divide 72 by 16 and look at the whole number and remainder. That's 4 remainder 8. So the number for 72 in hex would be 48. A larger number like 78 would be 4 remainder 14, so it would be 4E in hex.
I began my career working on 8 bit Data General machines and had to do everything in Octal.
Later I worked on a project on 16 bit HP computers and became fluent in Hexadecimal. Boy that was a long time ago. At one time I could tell you the Hex/Decimal equivalents off the top of my head. I have over written that portion of my memory...
I still did not see an explanation of what the purpose of the double honk is.
Did I miss it?
Double honk is when you leave the truck running and close the door with the key fob in your pocket or take it with you. It's been known to scare the bijesus out of people
Should work fine Rob. I'm guessing you're holding out hope on your 17? Last I read you'd had it...
Posted in VIN etc. Finally got moved to production yesterday and finally got the Monroney Sticker this morning. Happy as an aged clam, for sure. Now is the light at the end of the tunnel. Actually I have an older desktop in the shop I use for parts and tech manuals. Hope it will run fine on there.

Double honk came around with the first push to start cars. People would go somewhere together and the driver would get out to go into work or whatever and walk off with the fob. Other driver would wind up stranded if they didn't have their fob with them.
Hey Rob, now you can worry that the truck doesn't get dinged on the loading ramp and sent back to the factory. Or parked in the way back where it takes two weeks to get to. Or the transport truck gets t-boned by a drunk driver. Or the train derails in Pennsylvania. How many weeks it will sit in the rail car waiting to be unloaded. Or that the second transport truck gets t-boned by a drunk driver. Or the dealer goes out of business. Or the stock market crashes and you don't have enough money to pay for it...

If you use a usb adapter you should be able to use virtualbox and the passthrough. Never tried usb with qemu but I'm not sure there's a bridge for it. I do a lot of qemu-based simulators for embedded systems as part of my job, but I've never used KVM to run a windows machine. I use virtualbox for that.

Ok, I have experienced that. It was obnoxious. I didn't realize what was going on at first.
