The BT is the only one that works for all the feature changes. The wifi is limited by it's speed and can't make certain changes. The USB option has even a lower success rate. If you check out the F150 forum thread on it, you'll see guys have tried all other options extensively and while there is a unicorn here and there that costs $12 and works, most guys have issues with all other options and end up with the BT OBDLink MX...
This is what i have and it works perfect. Some of the ones that are USB are not very fast and don't work well with ForScan. Same with Wifi version, avoid it if possible.
And always have the ignition in the "on" position or Started and Running when programming. Although if running while programming i guess there is always a concern about the engine freaking out and taking you for a ride

haha. I did noice the momentary "oil is low" warning while it programmed the headlight change, which takes immediate effect when applied. Who knows what else it might do while programming. For those who watched war games.. "play global thermonuclear war"
I purchased the OBDLink Mx bluetooth and cant get it to work. Has anyone else had any trouble with it? Im starting to think i need to try an Android device, but i dont have one. Tried using my windows 7 laptop, but no luck. Any advise before i give up and return this thing?
No advice, but some commiseration: I have the ODBLink SX (USB cable) and cannot get it to work either. FOREScan comes up, but all the screens are blank.
OTOH the ODBLink application is able to connect and display info.
I am still going on the assumption that I am doing something wrong vis-a-vis FOREScan.
USB is known not to function correctly with Forscan. You need the BT adapter.
That's interesting. I'm using my old USB adapter and it seems to be working with it, through a VM. I am just passing the USB port through to the VM though.

There are unicorns out there but on the whole, USB is the least functional method. WiFi is a touch better but can't make all changes as it can't keep up with the bus speed. BT is the only setup that can make all the available changes 100% of the time.

Yeah, mine's failing to write. Don't wanna have to buy the BT module, but oh well.
Does anyone think we might be able to use FOREScan to set initial trailer mileages at something other than zero?
I pull three different trailers / fifth wheels currently with my 2014 F350 and I use the unique trailer feature to track mileages for for bearing and brake service. I am waiting on my new 2017 F45o and I would love to be able to bring the individual trailer mileages over to the new truck.

Somebody needs to tell the FOREScan people about this because they list it among their compatible devices: FORScan Home (scroll down to "Supported adapters").
Although I suspect that the "STN11xx) may be trying to tell me something... but I can't find anything except "SX" on the device I have.

Oops!.... Just found a caveat/disclamer further down the page that explains why the SX will not work on my F-150.
Pete, real world experience is best found on the F150 forum about Forscan. The Forscan site is rarely update but for new program releases and the forums are seldom used.

Yes, the MX is the guaranteed to work one. I'm hoping we get as much info here as the F150 guys have at some point. They've just had longer to play with it so they have more insight at this point.
