I also like a little bling. However the plastidip is awesome as it peels right off. I have found however that having my grille emblem dipped and driving through some bug swarms at 75+ mph will cause the dip to start coming off. Maybe I just don't have it on thick enough, but it is so easy to reapply its not a big deal.
A little plasti dip, now all the chrome is gone. What you guys think?

OMFG, Matt (all of a sudden) likes chrome. Time and time again, day in day out, "I don't like chrome" bustin' my b@lls about chrome, chrome is for parking lot princess...
Matt is right (this time), but don't ask us, it's YOUR truck. If you like it that is what matters.

For the most part no, I don't like chrome. I'm ok with accents of it but not plastered over every surface it'll adhere to.
Yeah, I had half a can of plasti dip laying around and figured I'd check it out. I'm gonna wait till lift and black wheels before i decide to peel off.
If anything it'll keep that nice new grill safe from all the Houston gravel and rocks. At least until you get it lifted up so they can't reach it anyway
I was in the same boat as you when it came time to upgrade wheels. I ended up keeping a close eye on CraigsList and jumped on the set I have now when they popped up. Damn near stole them too at $400 for a full set of 18x10 -25 forged Weld Daggers. Main reason I was all over them is they've been discontinued for nearly two years, and I have never seen another set around here.
I don't think all black would go quite as well, but a nice set of gunmetal or anthracite or whatever they're calling them these days would look great on there. Perhaps with a powder-coated/painted lip to match the rest of the truck, but that will most likely be a little bit too 'bro-dozer'. I think the wheels will be the hardest part of your build... they'll either make or break the look of the rig. You know as well as I do that there's a ton of Excursion and full-size rig's rolling around here and the variety that's already pounding the streets makes picking something unique that much harder.
I stumbled upon the Fuel Cleaver when LivingLarge was asking for advice on what wheels to run. They are definitely an aggressive styling, but I really like the look of them. IMO, I think the chrome center with black lip would work well with your overall color scheme, although the all black would look good as well - especially with the single milled edge on each blade. White is one color that can pull off the chrome look pretty well, although I believe the amount of chrome on the vehicle has a lot to do with the cohesiveness.
Whenever these Weld's kick the bucket or the chrome starts to peel, I plan on going to them as well. Or I'll just get the Weld's powdercoated in this new iridescent chrome finish a local place has. While not an exact match to chrome up close (under 5'), it's damn close and way cheaper.
Turbo started acting up, so I took the truck over to PSE, decided to go ahead
Bulletproof 6.0. Anything I should do while engine is out. Got a SCT X4 and Edge Insight CTS2 (Gearhead) waiting for it on the shelf.

I'd look into a new FICM harness...
The harnesses on these trucks are getting old and brittle. Some of them dating back to 2002 putting them at 14 years old. What I've found is that if injectors have been replaced, the harness is probably chaffing some where and hindering performance. I recently went through this with my truck and it cured all of my injector issues.
The same applies to the battery cables unless you plan on upgrading to 2/0.

Personally I'm a big fan of a white truck with black accents. For me that does not go all the way to the wheels though I have to ask, I have always wondered why did you or anyone blot out your licence plate ?? The truck is in public view all day long ?? What is the goal ??

In may be in public view all day, but most do not want their license plate on the interwebz. Using a LP#, I can find your name, address, and DL#, using that information, I can get your social, now I have all the tools needed to do whatever I want.
Or I just really like your truck and accessories and I now have your address so I am just going to come over and take what I want.
I just sat and totally enjoyed this thread! thanks for making my day a bit brighter! Wow! I cannot wait to see all that happens to/with this rig! You are climbing into the rarified air of mods and it's fun to watch!
