No mods to 6.0 or suspension, those will be next. Not quite sure what I'm going to do.
I picked up 2010 axles and parts needed for swap but haven't decided to use them or not.
Any thoughts?
You're a brave man getting this involved without Bulletproofing the engine first!
I'd invest the next $10k there, or at least keep that much in the 'petty cash' fund. That way your beauty will always be mobile, not just looking pretty in the driveway.
Does it need to be Bulletproofed right away? I got it in the body shop because they were slow and trying to knock out over XMas break. 3 kids. The engine has 155k miles and original owner took it into dealership for all maintenance once a month even car washes.
Longest maintenance report I've seen. I'll double check but I think EGR was replaced at one point.
Luckily Razzi (@Toreador_Diesel) and I are very close to you. I'm in Clear Lake and Razzi's up in Spring. So if you need a hand with anything give me a shout. Doesn't look like you can receive PM's just yet, once you can I'll message you my number.
Which shop in particular is doing the work? I'm going to be needing a little work done here soon myself and pending your final results, they may get my business.
If it's been running fine, no it doesn't need immediate bulletproofing.
I'm sure the 6.0 guys will jump in here, but some 6.0s seem to go on without drama; most, not so much. At 155k, you're about at the crossroads.
My buddy bought his with 167k, w/ new turbo and 3 new injectors. Within a year he'd spent $4k for new Head gasket, HPOP, EGR, oil cooler. Then another $2500 doing 4 injectors, EGR, oil cooler. Wishes he'd done it all at once, 'cause he did not get studs or other 'permanent' fixes; he just hadn't done any homework.
Hopefully you got a 'good one'; and have no issues!

That's the best way to put it...
If it ain't broke, don't fix it....
Don't get it in your head that the 6.0 is a bad or even scary engine to own. It's just a matter of the owner taking care of it and not letting maintenance fall to the way side.
Despite what others may say about the 6.0, drive and enjoy your truck. The ONLY thing I would do is get yourself a DIESEL SITE coolant filter (NEVER Sinister).
If anything ever comes up, shoot me a PM as I'm quite well versed on the 6.0, other than that, and again, enjoy your truck.

The electrical. I'm doing newer side mirrors and door panels with all
factory switches working.
get rid of those mirrors!!!! lol, j/k, i'm sure you are.
looks great!!!
if you don't mind me asking, what is this costing you to have a shop do it? if you'd rather not say, i completely understand. just curious what something like this would run.
Trucks almost done, mirrors are gone. Just waiting for them to send me updated pics a little later. Gonna go check progress tomorrow. The parts is what changes price. I got a great deal on complete front end.
Rather not say on shop prices
