Pretty quiet on the home front here. Wife's son and his wife and their new baby daughter came for a visit......no shop time for me.

Good morning everyone!

Chris, the holes aren't too bad here. I've got a two person power auger. It can be a little hard getting it to bite in the dense clay. Other than that just the occasional rock or broken terra-cotta pieces.

Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 54, dank and overcast. Fortune Tellers are saying rain all week. Might have to cover the house with a tarp and wait until next spring to get the roof on.

I'm about to tell them to put a big tent over the place and get it done. I'm reviewing the contract now to see what kind of "wiggle" room there is in it. They had a "drop dead" completion date of Sept. 25th. According to my calendar, we are just a little bit beyond that date.

This project has been a nightmare right from the beginning. Several contractors refused to even bid on it. They didn't work on pitches as steep as ours. Home Depot stood us up after making and confirming a date to come out and give us an estimate. One other contractor started the process then backed out and now Lowe's is way behind the 8 ball. I know the original contractor they had under contract to come do this job was fired. Then another contractor was "over booked" and they were going to hire an additional contractor to take up the slack. I talked to them last week, and of course there are weather delays, "and other problems" they didn't go into, but we are supposed to be next on the list to get going as soon as there is a "break" in the weather.

Evening all, weather is wet here. Felt lazy after work, so fed animals and been going brain dead in front of the boob-tube watching recorded shows.
Sometimes a day like this is needed to get re-charged. At least that's what I tell myself!

If you tried a two person auger here someone would get hurt, has to be machine mounted. A new neighbor putting in a fence wound up trenching with an excavator and using a lot more cement then originally planed.

I know what you mean. I've been "grounded" for nearly 4 weeks and I'm afraid I may have a little over two more weeks of it. I go to the Doc Thurs. so we'll see if he might give me just a little more rope for my "dog" run. I have digressed so far that I'm actually watching Addams Family Values for the 3rd or 4th time. Although it is the first time on the 65" Ultra HD.
